In this ghost box EVP session, recorded on 14th November 2010, I was trying to make contact with a Lucas. In previous sessions I have been hearing the name Lucas being said quite frequently so I thought it was about time to try to directly contact whoever or whatever was saying this name. Be it ghost, spirit or some sort of other paranormal entity, I believe that I got a little closer in finding out where this voice was coming from. Do I believe it is an intelligent voice communicating?...yes...Can I rule out any possibilities?...as ever the answer is no. I can only judge it on my experiences and always try to look at it with a very open mind. One thing I fully believe is that the phenomena known as EVP does exist, where it comes from is the big question.EVP or electronic voice phenomena as it is known is thought to be voices of those passed away trying to communicate with us captured on electronic devices. When trying to capture EVP, you can sit and ask questions or leave an audio recording device in a quiet room. When you play these recordings back, sometimes you will hear voices that were not present at the time, answering your questions or talking in general. This area of paranormal research was popularised when the film White Noise was released in 2005 starring Michael Keaton. The most popular method of capturing EVP is by using ordinary tape or digital audio dictaphone's or recording devices. V.Sofronitsky piano, S.Istomin cello, fortepiano by Paul McNulty after Conrad Graf, (1782 - 1851), who held from 1824 the title of "Imperial Royal Court Fortepiano Maker" (" kk Hofpiano und Claviermacher").C.Graf was born in Riedlingen (Wurttemberg) and came to Vienna in 1799 as a joiner. He became a piano builder and opened his own workshop in 1804. By 1820 his instruments were considered "the greatest and most renowned in Vienna and throughout the empire." Graf not only supplied instruments to all the apartments of the imperial court but also provided a pianoforte for Ludwig van Beethoven in 1825. Chopin, Robert and Clara Schumann, Liszt, Mendelssohn and Brahms held Graf pianos in the highest esteem. The McNulty instrument is a copy of Graf opus 318 (.1819) from Castle Kozel near Pilzn, Czech Republic. In this period the pianos of Graf still retained the thin soundboard and light hammers of the Viennese classical era, with somewhat thicker strings. The fuller tone is nonetheless clear and projecting, which, coupled with the various expression tops, provides a convincing Schubertian palette. These pedal effects are: moderator, double moderator, sustaining and una corda.

V. Sofronitsky and R. Brautigam fortepiano, fortepiano by Paul McNulty after Johann Andreas Stein (1728-1792), who was one of the most important fortepiano makers of Mozart's time. He was born in Heidelsheim in the family of organ builder. He apprenticed near Stuttgart with JA Silbermann and established his own workshop in Augsburg in 1751 where in 41 years he built around 700 fortepianos. By 1770 he was well known as an organist and organ and fortepiano builder. When Mozart paused in Augsburg in 1777, he befriended Stein. Mozart used Stein's fortepianos in a public performance of the triple concerto given on October 22, the three soloists being Mozart, cathedral organist Demmler and Stein. Mozart was most impressed with Stein's instruments quality and wrote to his father: "...But now I much prefer Stein's instruments, for they damp ever so much better than Spath's instruments. When I strike hard, I can keep my finger on the note or raise it, but the sound ceases the moment I have produced it. In whatever way I touch the keys the tone is always even. It never jars, it is never stronger or weaker or entirely absent: in a word, it is always even. ...they have this special advantage over others that they are made with escape action. Only one maker in a hundred bothers with this. But without an escapement it is impossible to avoid jangling and vibration after the note is struck. When you touch the keys the hammers fall back again the moment after they have struck the strings <b>...</b>

Brautigam playing fortepianos by Paul McNulty after Anton Walter (1752 - 1826), who had the title of "Chamber Organ Builder and Instrument Maker in Vienna", is considered to be the most famous fortepiano maker of his time. He improved the Viennese pianoforte action, which remained a standard for many years. He built about 700 instruments, which were praised for their quality by Mozart, whobought a Walter in 1782, and by Beethoven, who nearly succeeded in buying one in1802. According to Mozart's son Carl: "Most remarkable is the wing-shaped Pianoforte for which my father had a special preference to such a degree that he not only wanted to have it in his study all the time, but exclusively used this and no other instrument in all his concerts, regardless of whether they took place in court, in the palaces of noblemen or in theatres or other public places" Anton Walter was born near Stuttgart in 1752 and became active in Vienna in 1778. When in 1800 his stepson joined the company, the firm name was changed from "Anton Walter" to "Anton Walter und Sohn". The keyboard compass increased, but the basic construction and sound of the instruments stayed the same. The fortepiano shown on this photo was made by Paul McNulty, who is one of the most highly respected builders working today. His instruments, modeled after the fortepianos of JA Stein, A.Walter, and C.Graf, are result of meticulous research of the originals. McNulty fortepianos are owned by many fine <b>...</b>
