Jorrik went for a testride in the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG! We had this C63 for 1,5 hour to test it and compare it to the BMW M3 E92, wich I allready have driven earlier. First you see some shots from the exteriour, than it start ups and making some very nice revs! After that you will hear and see some accelerations and finally some shots inside when accelerating on the highway in the Netherlands :) The question is: Wich one should you choose? The C63 AMG or the M3? Before I drove the C63 I should definitely have chosen the C63 AMG, but after I have driven it I should choose the M3. The M3 is much smoother.... I don't know how I need to explain it in proper in English, but my choice is the M3! Mercedes has unveiled the new C63 AMG Safety Car for the 2011 DTM racing season. Based on the facelifted sedan, the vehicle is outfitted with an adjustable coil-over suspension, a high-performance braking system and a roof-mounted LED light bar. Other goodies include race seats, an advanced communications system and a leather/Alcantara steering wheel with paddle shifters. Under the hood, the naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine has been equipped with the AMG Performance Package which enables it to develop 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Mercedes-Benz hasn't made a whole host of changes for the 2012 C63 AMG. Exterior styling aside, the engine has carried over unchanged, and if we're honest, that's perfectly fine with us. After all, the 451-horsepower 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 under the hood is a gravel-voiced honey of a powerplant, and even if you don't add in the optional AMG Development package that boosts output to 481 hp, the end result is simply stunning. Among the limited changes under the skin is the institution of AMG's 7-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox derived from the cogswapper in the SL63 AMG. The transmission has a new 'Controlled Efficiency' mode, and combined with a new power steering pump and other small changes, Benz says the C63 gulps down about 10 percent less fuel than it did last year. So, what's new for 2012? There's a new front fascia with a redesigned lower apron, grille and daytime running lamps, and the new headlamps are a bit more akin to what we see on the SL roadster. Inside, there's a new dashboard with LCD screen, a revised three-spoke steering wheel, and an expanded range of optional tech features like lane-departure warning and internet access. Good stuff, but with a car like this, we could hardly care about appearance with such an absurdly fantastic powerplant under the hood. A new Mercedes-Benz. -Info- The first photos of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe have surfaced. Snapped during a test event at Circuit Paul Ricard in one of the garages, the exclusive AMG Coupe is not as hardcore as the previous generation CLK 63 AMG Black Series. Not only is it the first Black Series to have four seats, but it has been configured more towards everyday street use. Only 20 kg (44 lbs) have been shed from the vehicle's curb weight. In line with yesterday's report, the Black Series Coupe with its 6.2-liter V8 produces 517 PS (380 kW / 510 bhp) which is 30 PS (22 kW / 30 bhp) more than the C63 AMG with the Performance Package. Shifting is performed by the seven-speed 'Speedshift' MCT automatic with a limited slip differential. Torque is rated at 640 Nm (472 lb-ft). Despite no official specs released, 0 to 100 km/h should take about 4 seconds. Interestingly, the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe will not be limited in production and the price should come in around €100000 in Germany, much less than the BMW M3 GTS at €137000.
