Poko Pano is the traditional Brazilian swimwear line by Brazilian swimwear designer Paola Robba. This season, Robba included 30 swim and beachwear looks like bikinis, one pieces, cover ups, kaftana, minidresses, skirts, tops, and wide leg pantaloons. Looks were flowy and full of shape with bright colors and foliage embellishments--the line was part rustic outdoors, part Amazon rainforest jungle. All pieces were made of Amazon macrame. There was also crochet, lace, exotic floral and fauna prints from the Amazon, and other raw materials. youtube.com MIAMI - Mara Hoffman is a New York-based designer who is often seen at New York Fashion Week, but her swimwear line is also one to watch. This season, at Miami Swim Fashion Week 2012, she showcased her trademark bohemian look but in a strong woman sort of way. It makes sense that the collection is called, "Leaders of their own destiny." There were lots of prints, but also floral details and Egyptian-style embroidery and the women wore their hair braided in a sort of tribal element that was added to the line. They also wore a bit of war paint on their foreheads, reminiscent of other strong "warrior woman" collections that were showcased with paint on the face. Like other swimwear designers this season, Mara also had lots of bikinis and monokinis, maxi dresses, tunics, and coverups in vibrant prints and neon colors. Luli Fama wanted to make an impact and she certainly did as the collection opened with a party--girls that were either Las Vegas showgirls or (more likely) glittery dancers from Rio de Janeiro came out in big pink feather headdresses as well as feathers on their hips. This was a longer show--there were 79 pieces in total and Luli Fama made sure to include a little bit of everything from polka dots to animal prints, graphic patterns, and ombre motifs.
