COLT CLASSIC 2009 The flame has been re-lit yet again. Our yearly tradition continues. This time our adventures rendezvous in northern Michigan. We included the usual activities of riding, fishing, and camping. A great time indeed... LEOTA TRAIL This was 55 miles of pure off-road loving. We only accomplished 33 miles in total due to fatigue. The sand is punishing and shows no mercy to mere mortals. We succumbed. We warmed-up in the sugar bowl (special ORV area). Riding on the sand is unique and it does take some skill along with a capable dirt bike. The Kawasaki KDX 200 and Yamaha TW 200 performed magnificently. We got out alive, we had no injuries. I witnessed enduro engineers BARK BUSTERS save a major crush injury to Dougal Dawgs hand. He hit a tree at speed and sure enough, the bark busters absorbed the blow. It also, as advertised, busted some bark and gashed a tree. Dougal Dawg and Bravo Zulu (aka Buckeye Ninja) always wear a full compliment of FULL BODY ARMOR from head to toe. Crashing is inevitable for anyone. BE PREPARED!!! Michigan has over 3000 miles of ORV trails. If you like to ride dirt bikes, come to Michigan. Took a drive out to the Spiral Jetty at Promontory Point, Utah today! About 10 miles of backcountry 4WD roads past the Golden Spike Museum. The water level was very low so it was easy to walk a few hundred yards out onto the Great Salt Lake. Dougal had lots of fun chasing the sea foam stuff as it skirted across the shallow water.

Hi All, This video, from today, documents my first visit of 2010 to the 15" Gauge Evesham Vale Light Railway. Starting out from home at about 10am, the weather was planned to be horrid by the afternoon but, with only a dreary sky showing its face on the 1-hour drive to Evesham I thought I might just get away with it...No Way! On the last 3 miles towards the EVLR, heavy sleet & snow began to fall and I knew I'd lost any chance of getting some clear photographs/video's! Oh Well, I did my best!! Though I only got a few shots due to the driving rain & ever thickening snow, the EVLR made up for it as best they could with their friendly staff giving me a hot cup of tea in their workshops (very welcome) and a footplate ride around the entire line on the loco (even more welcome!). Thanks to the EVLR for their usual high level of kindness, enthusiasm and general good will (despite the awful weather!). The locomotive in steam was... *0-6-2 STT "Dougal" -"Dougal" was built in 1970 by the Severn Lamb Company, well known in particular for their Steam Outline Diesel locomotive production. Originally based at the Longleat Railway, "Dougal" was used on high days and holidays before eventually being sold in 2004, to the owners of the EVLR. According to the staff, "Dougal" required a heavy overhaul and this was then carried out by the railway. The engine was out-shopped in a new green livery as an 0-6-2 once again, proving herself to be a reliable and powerful workhorse for the railway <b>...</b>
