MARCEL MARCEAU TRIBUTE by Gregg Goldston
This 6-minute video Tributes the Life and Art of Marcel Marceau. It was created by Gregg Goldston and uses only Goldston's personal photos and video footage taken during the 20+ years that Goldston worked under Marceau. Most of the photos were taken from the theater wings by Goldston while he was touring as Assistant to Marceau. (Holding the Title Cards for Marceau) Ted Hardin filmed the video and was from a once in a career performance that Mr. Marceau gave called: BIP SPEAKS. It was in Marceaus words, the first time he spoke to an audience while in his Bip Costume. This performance was a benefit that Mr. Marceau held for the Goldston Mime Foundation.

Royal Ballet First Artists Romany Pajdak and Erico Montes demonstrate Odette's mime from Swan Lake. Mime is the use of gesture to convey narrative meaning. Classical ballet has a distinct language of mime where specific gestures convey precise meanings such as love, marriage, king, queen, etc. Highly stylized mime sequences are often used to spell out particular moments in the story, and to offer a vital change of pace between set pieces. Tony Montanaro's "Mime Spoken Here" is a full mime course on 2 full length DVDs available through www.mimedance.com Tony Montanaro founded Celebration Barn in 1972 and developed it into a world-renowned theater school for mime, improvisation, storytelling, and other performing arts. Born in Paulsboro, New Jersey on September 10, 1927, Tony Montanaro earned a theater degree from Columbia University and began performing stock theater with actors such as Jason Robards and Jackie Cooper. After seeing Marcel Marceau's historic 1956 performance at New York's Phoenix Theatre, Montanaro flew to Paris to study with Marceau and with Marceau's teacher, Etienne Decroux. Montanaro had a long career of rave-review performances in Europe and the United States. He designed and hosted the award-winning CBS-TV children's show Pretendo. In the years before his death in 2002, Montanaro continued to teach and direct at Celebration Barn and toured widely with his wife, Karen Hurll Montanaro. In 1995, the Montanaros authored Mime Spoken Here: The Performer's Portable Workshop, a guide to the craft of mime, character work, and improvisation.
