Going down the slope from Kesennuma station and turning at the corner of Yokamachi I came across suddenly a different scene. The traffic signal is destroyed up to the hilt. Therefore the whistle for the traffic control was sounded constantly. While walking I was bothered with terrible smell. As Northeast of Japan is my homeland. Chōjun Miyagi: Goju-Ryu Karate-Do (1)
Chōjun Miyagi (April 25, 1888—October 8, 1953) was an Okinawan martial arts Master who founded the Goju-ryu school of karate. Master Miyagi first learned martial arts at the age of nine from Master Ryuko Aragaki. At the age of 14 Master Miyagi studied under Master Kanryo Higashionna Master Miyagi underwent a very long and arduous period of training. His training with Higaonna was interrupted for a two-year period while Miyagi completed his military service, 1910--1912, in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Ken. In 1915, after the death of Kanryo Higashionna, Miyagi travelled to Fujian Province. In China he studied the Shaolin Kung Fu, Fujian White Crane Kung Fu and Pa Kua Kung Fu. From the blending of these systems, the hard linear/external form of Shaolin, the soft circular/internal form of Pa Kua, and his native Naha-Te, a new system emerged. However, it was not until 1929 that Chojun Miyagi named the system Goju-ryu, meaning "hard soft style". Some of Miyagi's more notable students were: Seko Higa (his oldest student and also a student of Kanryo Higaonna), Miyazato Ei'ichi (founder of the Jundokan dojo), Meitoku Yagi (founder of the Meibukan dojo, who eventually accepted Miyagi's gi and obi from Miyagi's family), Seikichi Toguchi (founder of Shorei-kan Goju-ryu), and on the Japanese mainland Gōgen Yamaguchi who was the founder of the International Karate do Goju Kai Association and who after training with Miyagi, became the representative of Gōjū-ryū in Japan. Radiation up 400 times in Miyagi, new blast feared at Fukushima
Follow latest updates at twitter.com and www.facebook.com Japanese police say the death toll following Friday's mega-quake and tsunami has now exceeded 1000 people. But fears remain it'll easily be 10 times that. It all comes amid warnings of new threats in the country. Officials fear there's a risk of another explosion at the Fukoshima power plant but remain confident it can withstand the blast like the first reactor did on Saturday. The government is also saying that a second reactor in Fukushima could be experiencing a partial meltdown. Meanwhile, radiation has increased 400-fold in the region of Miyagi which lies dozens of kilometres further north. It's not clear at the moment if the radiation came from the local nuclear plant or drifted up from the facility in Fukushima following Saturday's explosion. Officials claims the radioactivity released so far does not pose a threat to human health. Having said that, the number of people admitted to hospital suffering exposure is said to be rising amid a series of aftershocks that continue to rock the country. The Japanese Prime Minister has been addressing the situation and he said that 12000 people have been rescued so far. He called it was the hardest time for the country since World War II. Meanwhile the emergency services are on high alert in Russia's Far East.
