Ehud Barak

Ehud Barak is the most highly decorated soldier in IDF history. After a distinguished career in the Israel Defense Forces , Mr. Barak made his headway into the political arena serving as Minister of the Interior, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Defense Minister, and finally as Prime Minister in 1999. After a hiatus from politics, Ehud Barak returned to government and currently serves as Israel's Defense Minister. When sitting down with Ehud Barak you realize that his reputation precedes him. Israel's preeminent soldier and ex-Prime Minister recalls his upbringing and how unforeseen it was for someone such as him to become a "yiddish general." Mr. Barak, the current Defense Minister, intimates the tough life or death decisions he has had to make but also gives us his vision for the future of his state, which he sees as a bright one. Tribute Web site is www.rlhtribute.com I had the honor of knowing COL Howard (MOH) and the reason I made this video was because he was a great soldier and American who was never really given the recognition he earned and paid for with his own blood. COL Howard (MOH) was the most decorated soldier during Vietnam and some say in the history of our Military. He served 54 months in Vietnam most of it with MACV-SOG and was wounded 14 times. He died on Dec 23, 2009 and was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on Feb 22, 2010. Honorable mention SGM Ben Guerrero (long time friend) at 2:33. Courage, Valor & Medal Of Honor

President Obama awards Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, US Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry for his courageous actions against an armed enemy in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan in October 2007. Key quote from President Obama: Now, I already mentioned I like this guy, Sal. And as I found out myself when I first spoke with him on the phone and when we met in the Oval Office today, he is a low-key guy, a humble guy, and he doesn't seek the limelight. And he'll tell you that he didn't do anything special; that he was just doing his job; that any of his brothers in the unit would do the same thing. In fact, he just lived up to what his team leader instructed him to do years before: "You do everything you can." Staff Sergeant Giunta, repeatedly and without hesitation, you charged forward through extreme enemy fire, embodying the warrior ethos that says, "I will never leave a fallen comrade." Your actions disrupted a devastating ambush before it could claim more lives. Your courage prevented the capture of an American soldier and brought that soldier back to his family. You may believe that you don't deserve this honor, but it was your fellow soldiers who recommended you for it. In fact, your commander specifically said in his recommendation that you lived up to the standards of the most decorated American soldier of World War II, Audie Murphy, who famously repelled an overwhelming enemy attack by himself for one simple reason: "They were killing my friends ...

Please Mister Music Man by Harry Nilsson

I was getting fairly close to the end of burning all my albums to my hard drive when I came across a real gem that I wanted to share. The album was Early Tymes by Harry Nilsson. There is a very interesting story related in the album liner notes by Scott Turner. Turner was Tommy Sands guitarist from 1958-1961. One afternoon he met a very intense Nilsson and a few nights later Turner and Nilsson went to a small Hollywood studio where Turner played guitar and Nilsson, after spending about 5 minutes learning each song and interpreting it his way, made Harry Nilssons first recording. The songs are a mix from others but this song, Please Mr. Music Man was the first song written by Turner with Americas most decorated soldier, Audie Murphy. Turner and Murphy co-wrote 18 songs before Murphy died. This song was also the 1st song Nilsson ever sang in studio. The vocals were all recorded that night back in 1960. The songs on Early Tymes were recorded in 1960 by Harry Nilsson as demos for singer/songwriter Scott Turner. Harry recorded 11 songs and was paid $5 for each performance. When Turner decided to release the recordings in 1977 to capitalize on Nilsson's success, he telephoned Harry to work out a payment plan. Harry told Turner that he had already been paid - $55. Turner calls Harry Nilsson the best contemporary vocalist he ever heard and this song, when played for Audie Murphy, was said to have brought tears to his eyes. The music is pure Nilsson and pure heaven in my opinion ...

Now, it is the political leadership not the professional military leadership that decides on these things. This is in any democracy. That's why I was so much surprised by the open manner by which people from the military establishment are carrying out a professional debate that should be handled within the proper forums." Government officials said Benjamin Netanyahu was constantly working to form an international front for the struggle against Iran, and described Diskin's words as irresponsible and a shame. Diskin was referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak, who have threatened to launch a pre-emptive war on Iran because of its nuclear programme. Other security veterans have come out against Netanyahu and Barak, but Diskin's criticism was especially strong. Israel's former spy chief Yuval Diskin: "I will tell you things that will be, perhaps, harsh. I have no faith in the prime minister, nor in the defence minister. The Hottest Female Soldiers from around the world 最もホットな女性兵士、世界中から

Women in the military have a history that extends over 4000 years into the past, throughout a vast number of cultures and nations. Women have played many roles in the military, from ancient warrior women, to the women currently serving in conflicts. See Also: Women in the military by country. Despite various roles in the armies of past societies, the role of women in the military, particularly in combat, is controversial and it is only recently that women have begun to be given a more prominent role in contemporary armed forces. As increasing numbers of countries begin to expand the role of women in their militaries, the debate continues. From the beginning of the 1970s, most Western armies began to admit women.[1] Only some of them permit women to fill active combat roles, including New Zealand, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Israel, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland. Other nations allow female soldiers to serve in certain Combat Arms positions, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, which allows women to serve in Artillery roles, while still excluding them from units with a dedicated Infantry role. The United States allows women in most combat flying positions. Turkey uses female officers in combat flying (bombardment) missions over Northern Iraq and in ISAF patrol missions in Kabul, Afghanistan. Sgt Leigh Ann Hester, among other decorated soldiers in the Raven 42 unit, received the Silver Star, the third highest US combat decoration. While ...

He was nominated for the Medal of Honor by every man who was with him as he fearlessly battled the North Koreans and Chinese near the 38th Parallel. Russell Hawkins was recently interviewed about his late stepfather, Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Keeble: "Alone, Woody was able to get into the trenches with the enemy soldiers and eliminated two trenches' worth. From there, he worked his way to the right of the enemy and took out the first bunker with a grenade. He retreated back to his first line of defense, crossed to his extreme left and took out the second bunker with a grenade. Then he went back to the third bunker with a grenade and subdued the rest of the enemy with his rifle. Woody was hit in the chest, both arms, right calf, knee, right thigh and left thigh. One eyewitness said he saw the chest bullet come out of his back." Doreen Yellow Bird, Grand Forks Herald, February 25, 2007.
