The North American Star League or NASL had their Season 2 finals this past weekend and Hi-Rez studios took the opportunity to showcase their new first person shooter, Tribes: Ascend. . The latest installment in the Tribes franchise is free-to-play and features jetpacking ,skiing mechanics, and a diverse lineup of character classes. While some n00bs may mistake this for a Halo ripoff, Tribes: Ascend is actually a very challenging skill-based shooter which is which it has become the first FPS to be selected for inclusion by the NASL. . It will be featured as a promotion title throughout the third season. The original game in the Tribes franchise, Starsiege: Tribes, was one of the pioneers of online FPS multiplayer and according to Hi-Rez has been cited as a grassroots early influence on eSports and shoutcasting, making it a perfect fit for the NASL. . Hi-Rez Studios exec Todd Harris said, "As developers, we are excited to offer a fast paced, high skill-ceiling shooter for this generation of gamers." You can learn more about the 80 players of the NASL at nasl.tv and you can sign up to play Tribes: Ascend while it is still in Beta as tribesascend.com. . We also have some in-depth looks at a few of the classes you can try in the beta on our channel page so check those out if you want more ...
