Pakistan attack: Video of NATO airstrike aftermath

Pakistan's military on Wednesday released footage showing what they said was the aftermath of the NATO airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers. The video shows what appear to be several damaged buildings in a mountainous area and a cloud of smoke rising. Differing versions of Saturday's incident have emerged, but all agree that 24 soldiers were killed in attacks on two posts by NATO aircraft. As a result of the attack, Pakistan has withdrawn from an international conference on stabilising Afghanistan due to be held in Germany. RT on Twitter: twitter.com RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com

A NATO air strike on an army checkpoint in northwest Pakistan has killed up to 25 soldiers, according to the country's military officials. Islamabad has now blocked the alliance's vital supply lines into Afghanistan in response. The incident threatens to put more pressure on relations between Pakistan and the military alliance, already strained by continued US drone attacks. Ahmed Quraishi, President of Pakistan's biggest lobbying group - the PakNationalists forum, thinks this accident was a deliberate act of punishment. NATO admits it's probably to blame for a deadly helicopter raid on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, that killed up to 28 Pakistani soldiers and injured over a dozen others. Islamabad responded by cutting off the flow of vital NATO supplies to Afghanistan. The incident may deal a serious blow to their already-strained relations over lethal incursions in Pakistani territory. Pakistan boycotts conference over NATO attack

www.euronews.net Pakistan is said to be pulling out of an international conference on the future of Afghanistan, after 24 of its soldiers were killed in a cross-border attack by NATO forces. The incident, which happened on Saturday, has fuelled a wave of anti-American sentiment, with protests taking place throughout Pakistan. The conference boycott comes after NATO supply routes were shut down. The move has left hundreds of trucks stranded in Pakistan. Convoys carry almost half of the alliance's supplies overland to troops in Afghanistan.

Fire to the Fuel: More NATO tankers torched in latest Pakistan attack

A driver was wounded in Pakistan's south-west on Saturday when gunmen set ablaze 14 tankers carrying fuel for US and NATO troops in Afghanistan, officials said. The latest attack occurred in the Dera Murad Jamali area in Baluchistan province. Islamist militants and criminals in Pakistan frequently attack trucks carrying supplies for US and NATO troops. The attacks in Pakistan have led the US to rely more on other supply routes, including through countries north of Afghanistan. RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com RT on Twitter: twitter.com

NATO Under Attack: Over 50 tankers burn in new twin strikes in Pakistan

Gunmen have set fire to at least 55 fuel tankers and killed a driver in two separate attacks on NATO convoys taking supplies to coalition forces in Afghanistan. The strikes in southwestern Pakistan are the latest in the string of attacks since the country closed a key border crossing point almost a week ago after a NATO helicopter attack in the border area, which killed three Pakistani troops. The closure of Torkham crossing has left hundreds of trucks stranded alongside the country's highways.

Angry at NATO? Pakistan shuts route for Afghan supplies

And NATO's war effort in Afghanistan is facing another obstacle. Pakistan has closed an important supply route for the coalition. A hundred fuel tankers and trucks haven't been allowed into Afghanistan. It is seen as a retaliation to a NATO helicopter raid into the territory of Pakistan in which 3 local soldiers were killed and 3 more wounded. The alliance says the incident is now being investigated and promised the Pakistan's sovereignty would be respected. Recently the number of missile strikes and helicopter raids against suspected militants hiding in Pakistan's tribal zone has been on the rise. Pakistani officials say the attacks are violating international law and should be stopped. Pakistani political expert Ahmed Quraishi told RT that the US-led coalition has failed to persuade Pashtun tribes living on either side of the border to join peace efforts.

CIA's Predator Drone Attacks | US & NATO attacks on Pakistan Army I Episode 01|

The Vision Media brings for you The First Comprehensive Documentary on the deadly war by US and NATO forces against Pakistan. This is the first part of the documentary prepared for the presentation of the case of Pakistan and on behalf of millions of innocents who are being victimized by the deadly, ruthless and heartless Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in Waziristan Area of Pakistan in addition to the attacks by the western forces on Pakistan Army. Pakistan Army is has taken the greatest damage, causalities and financial loss for the US's war against the terrorists. In return, it is subject to the most deadly and treacherous attacks on it by its 'allies' including US armed forces and NATO army. Since at least 2004, the US Central Intelligence Agency has allegedly been operating the drones out of Shamsi airfield in Pakistan to attack militants in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas.[37][38] Since May 2005 the MQ-1 Predator fitted with Hellfire missiles has been successfully used to kill a number of prominent al Qaeda operatives.[39] The use of the Predator has also resulted in a number of civilian deaths, particularly on January 13, 2006 when 18 civilians were killed. According to Pakistani authorities, the US strike was based on faulty intelligence.

Pakistan halts NATO supplies to Afghanistan after attack - September 30, 2010

General Beg demands right for Pakistan Air Force to shoot down ISAF copters, drones paffalcons.com Pakistan closed a vital transit link for NATO supplies for the war in Afghanistan on Thursday in apparent retaliation for an attack by coalition helicopters on a Pakistani security post hours earlier. Trucks and oil tankers were stopped at the border post of Torkham just north of Peshawar and it was unclear when the post would reopen, a Pakistani security official said. A closure of the crossing through which NATO and American troops receive most of their non-lethal equipment is rare, and signaled a downturn in the military relationship between Pakistan and the United States just three months before the Obama administration takes stock of progress in Afghanistan. A NATO helicopter attacked a border post at Mandati Kandaw, a town close to the capital of Parachinar in the Kurram area of Pakistan's tribal region, at 5 am on Thursday, the official said. Three paramilitary soldiers of the Frontier Corps were killed, and three others injured, he said. Another border post at Kharlachi in the Kurram region was struck a few hours later, the official added. The two posts are about 15 miles apart and border Paktia Province in Afghanistan. The incident occurred as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Leon Panetta, was in Islamabad for a previously scheduled visit. He was expected to meet the head of the Pakistani military, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, later on Thursday ...

Pakistan Furious Over NATO Attack, Closes Supply Lines

BY ADNAN S. KHAN ANCHOR ANTHONY MARTINEZ NATO helicopters allegedly opened fire on two Pakistani outpost killing over two dozen Pakistani troops. Here's ABC "Another blow to relations between US and Pakistan this morning. Pakistan is accusing US-led NATO helicopters of firing on an army checkpoint along the border with Afghanistan kiling at least 25 Pakistani soldiers. Pakistan immediately responded by closing a key border crossing to supply US troops in Afghanistan." Early reports estimated at least 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed. That number rose as high as 28. The Telegraph has the response, and apologies, from NATO commanders. "The commander of the International Security and Assistance Force stated that he is personally paying the highest attention to this matter and that he is committed to thoroughly investigate and determine the facts. He expresses his sincere and personal heart felt condolences to the family and loved ones of any member of Pakistan security forces." That commander is none other that US General John Allen. And his sincere apology is apparently not enough for Pakistani forces. Euronews reports Pakistan has already taken actions against NATO forces. "In an apparent reprisal Afghan bound NATO supply trucks and fuel tankers have been prevented using a key route in Khyber region near Peshawar." It's not the first time Pakistan has blocked supplies to US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. And Pakistan's Dawn newspaper reports usually such protest doesn't ...

NATO attacks killed 24 Pakistani soldiers

A predawn attack by North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces Saturday killed at least 24 Pakistani soldiers and injured 13 others, the Pakistani military said, adding further stress to the US's troubled relationship with Pakistan and complicating efforts to push forward peace talks with the Taliban. Pakistan's army reacted angrily, calling the "unprovoked" raid on two Pakistani border posts an "irresponsible act." The army said NATO helicopters and fighter aircraft, under the cover of darkness, had bombed the posts in Mohmand tribal region, a lawless border area that which abuts Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province. "Pakistan's sovereignty was attacked early this morning," said Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. "This is our Pakistan and we have to defend it." In retaliation, Pakistan's security forces began to turn back scores of Pakistani-owned trucks that carry NATO supplies into Afghanistan.

NATO Attacks Pakistan

I believe this to be a very troubling development and an ominous sign. Pakistan and US relations hit a new low after coalition aircraft attack two Pakistani outposts for two hours killing some 24 Pakistani troops and wounding 13. The incident is a major blow to American efforts to rebuild an already tattered alliance vital to ending the 10-year-old Afghan war. In other words, what kind of "seeds" are being planted? Update: Pakistan now says it will shoot down US drones that fly into its airspace. - 12/10/2011
