NJ Transit ALP-45DP's #4504 and #4501 at the MMC and Hoboken yards

I decided to go spend the day out in Hoboken, Newport, and Jersey City again. I start on a NJ Transit Gladstone Branch line train to Hoboken from Newark Broad Street to ride by the MMC yard again. As we enter the yard we see some MOW equipment along with a line of ALP-44's still sitting around. It's good to see that they are still on the property. We then see more Arrow III's ALP-46's GP40's F40's PL42AC's and an ALP-45DP test train that is hiding behind an Arrow III. When I got off my bus at Newark Broad Street I had walked away from the station. Had I stayed there I would have caught the test train as I saw it from a far distance. ALP-45DP #4504 is on this test train. As we continue to Hoboken we see many NJ Transit Comet V's sitting around along with more GP40's, F40's, and PL42AC diesels. Notice GP40PH-2's #4111 and #4112 coupled togeather along with a Metro North GP40FH-2 #4902 there. After getting off the train I spotted ALP-45DP #4501 idling away in diesel mode across from track 17 at Hoboken. These engines look great! After spending the day out there I board another train back to Newark Broad Street. I take a quick look at the World Trade Center as we pass by the ALP-45DP again. Shortly after we come back to the MMC where we pass by the huge mix of NJ Transit equipment. I have to say that day had a very impressive arrangement of equipment both electrics diesels. We then quickly pass by ALP-45DP #4504 which is still hiding behind an Arrow III train before passing ...

NJ Transit and Amtrak Trains at Rahway Day 2 part 3 (Meet with NJ Transit Police)

I continued railfanning but I was later reported by a train crew to NJ Transit Police. I think I was reported by either the second engineer in ALP-46 #4622 or the engineer in PL42AC #4011 but either way NJ Transit Police showed up. I walked to the opposite platform to film more trains when the NJ Transit Police Officer approached me and asked if I had been taking pictures of trains. I told him yes because I am a railroad enthusiast and I am highly into trains. He then asked for my license to put into the computer. He stated that I was not in any trouble and needed my information to put into the computer because I was reported by a train crew. I then showed him the NJ Transit Photo Policy and after he reads it I give him my license. The NJ Transit Police Officer was polite and professional and did not make me leave the station. He stated that after 9/11 everybody is on a very high alert. He told me that he also has an interest in trains himself and mentioned that I should go to Hackensack to film trains. I then mentioned that NJ Transit had just got Dual-Powered engines and he also knows about them. Again the NJ Transit Police Officer was very polite and professional. Absolutely no problems at all. Just good cops protecting the rails. The encounter is from 3:54 to 6:56 After that I continued railfanning into the night. Rate and Comment!

After dropping off a number of stone cars in the Stavola quarry, NJ Transit GP40PH-2B 4210 heads back towards the Raritan Yard on the Middlebrook Industrial. Me an a few other railfans decided to chase the engine down the line, for this type of move in daylight is very rare. This very unused, historic industrial track used to be CNJ property, and runs through Bridgewater, NJ through E Main St, along-side the UPS storage buildings and across Rt. 22 into Stavola Quarry near Chimney Rock Road

NJ Transit train at Fanwood, New Jersey

The railroad station at Fanwood, New Jersey was built in 1874 in the Victorian era and in the Carpenter Gothic style. Although passenger trains carry many people to and from from this stop along the former Central Railroad of New Jersey, now NJ Transit Raritan Valley line, the station presently serves as the borough's museum and civic center (the working ticket office and waiting room is on the opposite side of the tracks in a modern structure). Here we see a weekend train stopping at Fanwood enroute to Newark, where it will arrive some twenty-five minutes later.

CHASING the NJ Transit Stone Train down the Raritan line and Middlebrook!

Hearing the sound of rumbling EMD outside my house, I knew something was going on, so I turned on my radio and sure enough 4215 was being started up. So upon my arrival to Raritan Yard, I am greeted by 4300 and 4303 already powered up and ready to go on yard track 10. I didn't know what was going on, so I rushed to the station because I was sure something was going to happen, sure enough it did.... 4215 coupled up with the 4300 and 4303 and they were bound for Stavola Quarry. I called up my friend Joe and we went down to the crossing to get him, then chased him back... Consist information: GP40PH-2B 4215 GP40-2 4300 GP40-2 4303

NJ Transit and Amtrak Trains at Rahway part 4

Part 4! First: NJ Transit Multilevel Cab Car #7034 slowly runs by Rahway with an express train to Long Branch. ALP-46 #4616 is pushing. Second: An Amtrak Keystone train flys through the station in push mode going to Harrisburg PA with AEM-7 #949 pushing. As soon as the AEM-7 runs by me a NJ Transit Comet V Cab appears in the distance. Comet V Cab #6073 is leading an express train to New York. ALP-46 #4625 (I think) is pushing. Third: ALP-46A #4654 slowly pulls off of the NJCL cut off and arrives in the station going to New York. Comet V Cab #6043 is trailing. While this train is stopped an Arrow III EMU Express train to Trenton flys by. The ALP-46A then pulls it's train out of the station. Fourth: I walk to the other side platform. An NJ Transit Arrow III EMU Train departs going to Aberdeen-Matawan on the NJCL. Fifth: NJ Transit multilevel cab car leads an express train to Trenton. ALP-46 #4610 is pushing. I couldn't see the number on the cab car. Sorry. I then took a detailed look at a few switches that I think where just installed. The rails look unused compared to last time I was at Rahway filming. Sixth: NJ Transit ALP-46 #4607 leads a Comet Salad into Rahway to receive and discharge passengers before continuing into New York. Comet V Cab #6064 is trailing. As this train departs another ALP-46 appears in the distance pulling a multilevel express. ALP-46 #4608 hauls past the station with a multilevel express to Trenton. NJ Transit Comet IIIs Dominating the North Jersey Coast Line

NJ Transit's Comet IIIs were built in 1990. After seeing 19 years of service, this was the last year for the Comet IIIs revenue service. In this video you will see every Comet III (except 5008. I do have video of 5008, just not in this video.) You will see a variety of places, including Manasquan, Belmar, and more. So sit back, relax, and enjoy roaring EMDs and the great horns of NJT Comet IIIs on their last summer in service. ENJOY!!!

Exclusive! : NJ Transit ALP-45DP #4500 at MMC yard!

The ALP-45DP #4500 is at 2:39 and at 6:14 but watch whole video for more rail equipment! I board a Hoboken bound NJ Transit train at Newark Broad Street. Shortly after departing we see the buildings in Newark and as we continue we meet up with ALP-46A #4635 pulling a comet salad to New York Penn Station. ALP-46A #4635 blasts it's horn a few times for an Acela Express that is going to Washington DC Union Station. So as we continue ALP-46A #4635 catches up to us. As we enter the yard we then pass by a bunch of equipment then ALP-44M #4425 which has not been moved. We then pass by a ACES train followed by a bunch of multilevel and Arrow III EMU cars. Right after that I catch the brand new ALP-45DP #4500 coupled to multilevel cab car #7021 sitting with it's pantograph up! I was glad to catch this unique dual-mode engine and since the pantograph is up I think they will be testing soon! I do have to say the ALP-45DP is a huge and a very long engine! As we continue away from the ALP-45DP we continue to see more equipment sitting around the yard waiting for service or work. A nice mix of equipment was out there today almost all types of NJ Transit and some Metro-North locomotives! I then move to the other side to look at Secaucus where I see a NJ Transit ALP-46 pushing only 5 cars! That could have been an ALP-44 train. I also happened to meet ERIELACKU34CH on this train! While returning again we see a huge mix of NJ Transit and Metro-North equipment that is sitting waiting for ...

NJ Transit and Amtrak Trains at Rahway part 2

Part 2 First: NJ Transit Multilevel Cab #7014 slowly rolls through with an express train to Long Branch. ALP-46A #4636 is pushing. I then noticed some workers spraying paint down to create a parking lot for cars. I thought it was interesting how they spray the lines down. Second: A NJ Transit and an Amtrak Acela are racing in the distance as they approach Rahway. Some guy kept getting in the way while I was filming so I had to move around. The Acela gives a K5LA blast and cruises through the station. Power Car #2029 is leading and #2026 is trailing. Shortly after NJ Transit Comet V Cab Car #6015 arrives with a train to Trenton. ALP-46 #4611 is pushing. Third: While the NJ Transit is stopped another Acela Express flys through the station. Power Car #2000 the class leader is leading and #2002 is trailing. The NJ Transit ALP-46 #4611 pushes its train out. Fourth: Amtrak AEM-7 #931 pulls I think the Pennsylvanian through Rahway going to New York. Fifth: Amtrak AEM-7AC #905 pulls a Keystone train through the station. A worker sprays more paint down Sixth: NJ Transit Arrow III EMU train flys through the station going to New York. I then look back at the worker spraying more paint down to create more parking spaces. Seventh: Amtrak AEM-7 #906 flys by pulling an Amtrak Regional to Washington DC This Regional had an Amfleet II lounge for some reason. Eighth: NJ Transit ALP-46 #4626 pulls an Express to Trenton. Comet V Cab #6073 is trailing. Ninth: NJ Transit ALP-46 #4612 pulls a ...

NJ Transit and Amtrak Trains at Linden part 3

Part 3! First: Amtrak Acela Express to Washington DC runs by me with another friendly engineer. Power Car #2012 is leading and #2013 is trailing. Second: A NJ Transit PL42AC #4031 approaches with a train going to Bay Head. Comet V Cab Car #6016 is trailing. At the same time a NJ Transit Arrow III EMU train approaches going to New York. Third: As the Arrow III train departs a NJ Transit multilevel express to Trenton runs by. Cab Car #7004 is leading and ALP-46A #4638 is pushing. The NJ Transit then meets an Amtrak Regional train going to New York pulling 10 Amfleets. There was another extra cafe car on the end. Fourth: NJ Transit ALP-46A #4636 leads a multilevel train to Long Branch with another friendly engineer. Cab Car #7014 is trailing. Fifth: Amtrak AEM-7AC #942 leads a Keystone train to Harrisburg PA Sixth: NJ Transit ALP-46 #4620 leads a multilevel train to New York. Cab car #7027 is trailing. I then looked at another plane flying overhead. I guess you can say I did some airfanning as well. HA! Seventh: NJ Transit Comet V Cab #6034 leads an express to New York. ALP-46 #4618 is pushing. At the same time an Arrow III train arrives going to Trenton. A helicopter then flys overhead and once that flys by a Boeing 757 or 767 flys right over me. Eighth: NJ Transit ALP-46A #4641 runs by pulling a multilevel express to Trenton. Cab Car #7043 is trailing. Ninth: NJ Transit Comet IV Cab car #5012 leads a local train to New York. ALP-46A #4646 is pushing. As the ALP-46A was ...
