Full version of the ad for NYCTA's service to the 1964-65 World's Fair in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Not only were the new picture window married pair baby blue and cream enameled St. Louis Car Company built R-36 Bluebirds running in new 11 car consists as aa solid and exclusive fleet on the IRT Flushing Line, but the stations were painted to match and the steinway tubes walls were painted white. A special outbound express service was run after the morning rush. After the PM rush, inbound expresses were run. What a thrill that was, the motors were not field shunted so they ran full out with a discreet high pitched whine, the tracks had no elastomeric pads under them, and the motormen and conductors knew what they were doing carrying a well behaved public including 50 million visitors to the fair. The bluebirds were the last to be grafittied and the first to be made 100% grafitti free and ran almost exclusively on the Flushing Line until November 2003 (40 years). Video courtesy of DH.

This is one of the many new hybrids delivered to New York City, and lemme tell ya, these buses surpassed my expectations. I rode this bus a good distance from St.George and man, the ride was smooth. The interior is alot better than the First and Second Generation VIIs. New "Stop Requested" announcements as well telling passengers to exit through the rear door. This service replaced the M15 Limited and it makes a few less stops as the limited. The NovaBus LFS Articulateds are the dedicated +Select Bus Service+ fleet from bus numbers 1233 up to 1279, 1280 up to 1289 along with the New Flyer D60HFs are for the local service. Bus # 1303 has been testing out of Grand Ave depot on routes such as the B13, B60 & B43 lines. A 35ft version of this bus was tested and it was successful, hence allowing the order of the new Designline buses. There will be 8 buses for the pilot program, if the buses pass, the order will be 30 buses with 60 in the optional order. Engine and Transmission specifications are as follows Capstone C65 MicroTurbine Bosch Rexroth 120kW Traction Motors This is by far the most quiet hybrid out in service today. The Orion VII Originals & Next Gens are noisemakers compared to these buses. This bus was also on routes like the M2, M3, M4, M9, M11, M27, M42, M50, M98, B13, B60 & B43 routes!
