Kim Jong-il dead, North Korea's future uncertain

www.nma.tv North Korean leader Kim Jong-il is dead. State media reported the Dear Leader died on Saturday due to "great mental and physical strain" while on a "high-intensity field inspection." News of Kim Jong-il's death prompted a great outpouring of public grief, though North Koreans could hardly be expected to display any other kind of emotion in the tightly managed Stalinist state. Kim's son, the 20-something Kim Jong-un aka the Bright Leader, is the heir apparent. But the younger Kim is not secure in his power and the elder Kim's death could result in a dangerous power vacuum in what is arguably the world's most dangerous flashpoint and potentially embroil China and the US in a military confrontation in the Korean Peninsula.

Steve Jobs Dead: RIP 1955-2011; his life and career

www.nma.tv Next Media Animation takes a look back and the life and career of Apple co-founder and chief executive Steve Jobs, who resigned that position late on Wednesday. Our tale begins with Steve Jobs dabbling in LSD and spiritual enlightenment, which Jobs describes as the "one of the two or three most important things [he had] done in [his] life". Man, look at all the colors. Hey, that gives me an idea for a company logo. Jobs would then found Apple with Steve Wozniak and a third guy who cashed out his shares waaaaaay too early, so we didn't bother to animate him. In 1984, Jobs unveiled the Macintosh and forever revolutionized personal computing. But the good times wouldn't last. John Sculley, the executive Jobs hired away from Pepsi, bounced Jobs from the company he founded. Jobs would get his revenge by starting another company, Pixar. He produced 'Toy Story' and sold the animation company to Disney for a fat profit. Jobs finally returned to Apple and defeated arch nemesis Bill Gates to become the baddest mofo in tech. Jobs was then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and required a live-saving liver transplant. Apple now faces a threat from Google Android. Thankfully, Jobs can pass the baton to chief operating officer Tim Cook.

Valentine's Day tips from Next Media Animation

www.nma.tv It's Valentine's Day again! Don't have any ideas on how to celebrate yet? Let Next Media Animation give you some ideas! If you're still looking for a place to take your special someone (but you're a cheapskate) look no further than White Castle! The fast food chain is offering candlelit dinners with table service as a holiday promotion. Be careful when giving out candy hearts. A 12-year-old girl in California was shocked to find a heart with a racy message. Apparently it was a "misprint." Be careful trying to find a Valentine online. A security flaw at eHarmony.com enabled a hacker to steal people's personal information. If you hate Valentine's Day, maybe consider moving to Russia, where a town is discouraging its citizens from celebrating the holiday due to pressure from religious groups. But you really don't need to go anywhere, we here at NMA will love you long time!

Pirate Party takes seats in Berlin Parliament

www.nma.tv The Pirate Party first began in Sweden. However, soon the international pirate party movement took off. The German Pirate Party won 8.5% of the vote in Sunday's Berlin state elections, winning its first seats in the state legislature. The SDP and German Green party did well and will probably form a coalition, but the Pirate Party will add a new voice to German politics. The party's platform calls for the decriminalization of downloading, free internet in cities and the legalization of marijuana. It's not the first wacky party to make a splash in Europe. Jon Gnarr became Mayor of Reykjavic on promises of open corruption and a polar bear.

Now the faltering clothing company is looking for plus size models for their new range of XL sizes. AA is encouraging fuller women to enter its "Next Big Thing" contest. The winner gets a modeling deal. The contest isn't as empowering as it sounds. Bloggers feel the language on the website mocks curvy girls. Besides, the average American woman wears a size 14. Conan O'Brien returns to television 脫口秀主持人康納重出江湖

www.nma.tv Conan O'Brien is returning to television. Last week, fellow comedian George Lopez welcomed Conan to cable network TBS. Fans are excited to see what Conan has in store. Will he reprise popular skits such as the self-pleasuring bear? NBC owns the rights to the skit. Conan has said he will fight for his masturbating bear in court. Conan left NBC after Jeff Zucker tried to force Conan and his Tonight Show out of the 11:30pm time slot. Viewers in Taiwan are unable to watch Conan on TV because TBS isn't generally available here. Bin Laden's death: a conspiracy theory

www.nma.tv President Obama is facing criticism for not releasing the Osama bin Laden "death photo." Many claim it's a sign of a conspiracy. Some think there wasn't even a raid at all. The burden of proof is high in the digital age. Scammers easily whipped up fake photos of bin Laden's corpse in mere hours. People seem to believe anything bin Laden-related they see on the Internet. The London riots were sparked by the shooting of local man Mark Duggan, while the rest seem to be people just wanting free stuff. The Metropolitan Police's initial response to the rioting has been criticized as woefully inadequate. Politicians were also criticized for their slow response, while people have taken the clean up into their own hands. Some blame the weak response on budget cuts and are questioning whether the city can handle Olympic crowds next year. The Home Office has ordered more police onto the streets. US should ditch Taiwan: New York Times op-ed

www.nma.tv Commie pandas must have slipped something into the water cooler at the New York Times yesterday, because the paper ran a shockingly ignorant and naïve op-ed suggesting that the US sell out Taiwan to China if Beijing would write off the US$1.14 trillion in American debt it currently holds. In To Save Our Economy, Ditch Taiwan, former Marine and Harvard fellow Paul V. Kane states that America's relationship with Taiwan is a Cold War anachronism that offers little strategic benefit to the US, observing that "absorption into mainland China is inevitable." Kane notes that such a deal would benefit China economically, as it would no longer have to spend the US$30 billion to US$50 billion a year that it currently uses for things like the 1500 missiles China has pointed at Taiwan. Kane wants President Barack Obama to make a backroom deal with the Communists in Beijing in which the US would agree to end "American military assistance and arms sales to Taiwan and terminate the current United States-Taiwan defense arrangement by 2015." We're Next Media Animation, not Foreign Affairs. So here it is in a nutshell: China would not stop with Taiwan. Gobbling up Taiwan is only one step in the People's Liberation Army Navy's plans (paywall) to develop a blue water navy that would project power out to Hawaii. If the US abandoned Taiwan, American allies in the region would wonder if they were next and reevaluate their own relationships with the US; if China controlled Taiwan, it ...
