Interview with Drive Director Nicolas Winding Refn
We had the privilege of sitting down with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn for an interview when he was in Dallas, Texas. I really enjoyed the film and the uniqueness of it. Through the three questions I was able to ask him, he added another level to the film that I never picked up on. The idea of Ryan Gosling's character as a superhero never occurred to me, and I am glad he used that word. The interview may contain some little spoilers about the film if you do not know much about the plot of Drive.

Having just made his biggest splash in Hollywood with the incredible 'Drive,' Nicolas Winding Refn is a director I'm incredibly excited to see getting wide acclaim. Ever since his early features such as 'Pusher' and 'Bleeder,' Refn's films have boasted a dark and suspenseful tone which he has managed to develop and perfect across his eight features. This edition of 'The Works' was an interesting one to cut, since I wasn't familiar with many of Refn's films prior to editing. However I feel that I did justice to the films of one of todays most talented emerging directors. Who's next you ask? The answer to that is a little bittersweet. Because these next few months will be so crowded for me with school, I'm honestly not sure when I'll be able to release the next edition of 'The Works'. However, I can provide two positive facts: 1. That this next installment of 'The Works' WILL be released along with other edits I've been planning out in due time. 2. A hint for which director is next: He's Canadian, like me! The talented and acclaimed auteur discusses his ideas behind the look and feel of the film, and the creative collaboration with his impressive cast. This was done during Refn's press tour in Dallas, TX. The interviewer, Mark Walters, ironically, got into a bit of fender bender on the way to the interview. Because of the wreck, by the time he arrived the camera crews had already left, so this had to be filmed on a handheld HD mini-camera. Our apologies for the low volume and picture quality. The Refn Syndrome
This is a response to my friend Sammy's video called The Edgar Wright Syndrome which is a lot better than mine. I felt like I had to make the Danish equivalent, so this is The Refn Syndrome named after Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn. Famous for filming in chronological order and his use of colors in film despite being color blind. This was vastly inspired by his newest film Drive - the best film of 2011 if you ask me.
