Soooo due to popular demand i had to take a shot at the rest of the song! As i predicted it doesn't sound anywhere near perfect because i'm missing some notes because of the 2 octaves restriction. And the laggy redstone is messing some chords up! There's two parts of the song i had to lower an octave to get it to fit. Attention!!! Full song has been finished, check video responses! This is the intro of Still Alive, made automatic with redstone and noteblocks. Since the noteblocks only provide 2 octaves the song is not in the original tone. (Also i didn't continue it cause i would be forced to only play the melody and that would sound too simple in my opinion.) Scratch that, i finished it the best i could with the octave limit! Seems i'm going to get this question alot, "How long did this take you?" So the answear is: About an hour. Since i used INVedit i "just" had to build, and not gather any materials! :) Also bout the timing errors on some spots, It's not because i placed them wrong! Minecraft note blocks are a fairly new addition, which can be used to play a note by either hitting them or remotely activating them with switches and/or pressure plates. This has taken me a while to put together as you can probably imagine. The construction of this video can be broken down into several steps: 1. First we dug a tunnel 7x3x850, at an approximate depth of 50 metres. This was done in a couple of days with the help of 3 other people (but mainly Deepfriedmonkey). 2. Alternating note boxes were placed either side of the tunnel with a space underneath -- in doing this you have to be careful not to have anything either above or below the note block -- it will not play otherwise. 3. Pressure plates were placed down the middle and were then connected to the note blocks using redstone wire. 4. Signs were placed every 8 noteblocks and then marked with the bar number 5. I then took the sheet music (public domain) and converted the tune into what I now call Minetab. This is essentially a value taken from each note which is then used to show how many times a noteblock must be right clicked to achieve the correct pitch. This was the result, bar number is on the left followed by the 8 semiquaver notes <b>...</b>

I hope you guys appreciate this because it took a truckload of my time transposing it from ear, planning it, then building it by hand. The materials are of course given to myself (I'm not about to gather 30000 wood for something that already took this long) overall i'm glad the way it came out. This was my first time using note blocks so it took a little experimenting before i came up with this two-layer design from other designs i had seen. Luckily as i play piano, it wasn't too hard to figure out harmonies and arpeggios etc. Unfortunately there's a little glitch at the start due to fraps, minecraft, and redstone lag, but it's fine for the rest of the video. I recorded several times and this was the best take. The redstone lag does irritate me after all this time but there's little i can do about that. The song itself consists of 2820 note blocks, and the pixel art at the end is around 1360 blocks Minecraft is now (If it wasn't already) 20% cooler. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody created in Minecraft. this is still a work in progress. so far.. it's complete up to the 2nd verse of the ballad. i only made the vocal (harmony only in the first 4 bars) and piano parts. fortunately, for this song, i was able to make it in the original key (leaving some minor notes out due to the 2 octave restriction). and the redstone delay time just happened to be very close to the actual tempo of the song. so it sounds a lot like the original song... except for the short notes. there are 2 things i wished minecraft note blocks could do (especially for this song). 1. extended note lengths (although, i've read that this is not possible with the current sound engine) -does anybody know a mod that could do this?? 2. a new vocal and/or guitar sounds for note blocks. currently, the piano part and the vocal part are both from the same note block sound type (piano/harp), which make them get mixed up in some parts and make it hard to distinguish one from the other. also, the next part of the song is a guitar solo, which i'm probably gonna have to make it with the same piano/harp sound.. lol also..... there are gonna be triplets... which i'm still playing around with the redstone circuitry to make it sound as close to triplets as possible. anyways, the rest of the song will be up sometime later this week or early next week. i'm still deciding if i should upload the final one once i'm completely done w/ the song, or if i should upload another wip one <b>...</b>

Apparently a couple people have reuploaded this video or taken the song file and used it to generate their own schematic which they uploaded. This is the original that I created, as evidenced by upload date and being featured on Minecraft Forum. My first attempt at translating a song into MC note blocks. I don't think this song has been done before, so if it has been, whoops. I divided up the blocks into three layers: vocals, rhythm/backup vocals, and drum/bass. Vocals are on the top above me, drum is the on the bottom left, and bass is on the bottom right. The layer you see in the video is the rhythm layer. If you'll notice everything seems to be a bit more "structured" once the fast part kicks in; that's because I was still trying to figure out what the hell I was doing in the intro. I'm not a musician so I know it's not 100% perfect and there's probably a couple of stray notes here and there I didn't pick up on, but I think it came out pretty good. For those inquiring, this was a bit less than a day of work spread out over a couple of months. I wouldn't interpret that as too much free time, but that's just me. The entire thing is over 3000 music blocks. Sorry if there is a wrong note here and there I did this all by ear. My second song (Bloody tears from Castlevania II), I started doing this with the north/south quirk and then a day later the new repeaters came out and man does it make things easier and less laggy. At first i thought this song was far too complex to make. Turns out that after some thinking i came to the conclusion that i could make it fit by transposing it down 6 steps! That being said, it was still a pretty tough challenge to make it! Think it took about 6-8 hours, had a crash that deleted the map! It's a bit slower than the original and also some lag issues when recording, hope you still can enjoy it!

As soon as i got the idea that i wanted to make a loop this song was the one that came to my mind. 3 simple chords and a combined total of 64 note blocks. The button on the left starts the loop. If the lever to the right is activated it stops at the end of the loop, if not it repeats! Hey! Though I'd try something different from what i usually do! And i decided to pick this challenge. The song contains 2638 note blocks and took about 12 hours in total to make. This was by far the most challenging song I've made, and since i don't have knowledge of drum patterns i had to guess and try!
