Deputy Prime Minister and ODM deputy party leader Musalia Mudavadi says no one can purport to try and tame him in his bid to become ODM's flag bearer in the next general elections. Mudavadi refuted claims that he is being used by Raila's opponent's to lock him out of the race to state house. As he sought the support of coast ODM delegates, Mudavadi maintained that the party will not fall apart just because he is facing off with Raila. Here's KTN's Sophia Wanuna with the details.

A defiant Prime Miniser Raila Odinga maintains ODM will not be shaken by the current storm that has seen a section of MPs from the Rift Valley desert the party to form new alliances. Prime minister Raila Odinga has asked civil servants who intend to vie for elective positions in the forth coming general elections to resign to avoid conflict of interest. Raila who spoke when presiding over the official signing of performance contracts for ministries and government departments for the financial year 2011/2012 said those planning to join politics should quit as this will compromise service delivery to Kenyans. Odinga has hit out at those saying there is tension in the Orange Party, terming his competition with deputy party leader Musalia Mudavadi for ODM's presidential ticket as a show of democracy in the party. Pundits have suggested a possible split in the Orange Party, following Mudavadi's spirited grassroots campaigns in a bid to challenge Odinga to become the party's flag bearer. Odinga spoke in Kitale, where he was rallying ODM delegates from Trans Nzoia and West Pokot counties behind his cause ahead of the ODM presidential nominations. Western MPs ask Mudavadi not to quit ODM
A section of member of parliament from western Kenya are asking deputy prime minister Musalia Mudavadi to re-consider his options before making a decision to quit ODM. The mps most of whom did not attend a meeting called by Musalia Mudavadi say Mudavadi should square it out with Raila Odinga for the presidential ticket and bowing out before that may portray him as a political coward. Mudavadi Ditches ODM, Resigns As Minister
Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi is no longer a cabinet member and has also formally cut ties with the Orange Democratic Party led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga, where he relinquished his position as deputy party leader. Mudavadi however maintained that he will retain his Deputy Premier's position, while announcing that he will contest the presidency in the upcoming General Election on a United Democractic Forum, UDF, party. By sticking to his Deputy Premier's position, Mudavadi, who also said he would continue serving the people of Sabatia as MP, where he was elected on an ODM ticket, cited provisions of the National Accord and Reconciliation Act of 2008. Mudavadi claimed that his departure from the Orange House was triggered by lack of internal democracy in the party, particularly the process of nominating the party's presidential flag bearer.
