Occupy Berkeley: 'Cops hit us with batons in stomachs'

Seven University of California students were arrested and dozens of others suffered bruises and abrasions following a police crackdown on an attempted encampment at a local plaza on Wednesday. "We had the tents set up for about a half an hour when the police decided they wanted to shut down the camp," student protester Eric Uribe recalled in an interview with RT. "What the students did is they set up a human wall around the tents. Soon after that, the police approached with full force in riot gear, with batons. We had no intention to move, but they jabbed some of us repeatedly in the stomach, pulling people onto the floor and arresting them." Hundreds of protesters had gathered at the town's Sproul Plaza to protest against tuition fee increases and public education funding cuts. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

November 9, Occupy Cal Raw Footage: Riot Police march in to take down tents

Around 3:28pm this afternoon, riot police were called in to take down the tents erected by Occupy Cal protestors. The protestors linked arms to form a line in front of the tents which caused a violent confrontation and a number of arrests.

Police weaponry brought to University of California at Berkeley protest.

A few brief questions for a police officer in riot gear. Notice someone's rude and unfortunately timed remark towards the police officer. Many of the protesters are non students, and the commenter did not appear to be a student. On closer inspection the gun seemed to carry .45 caliber or so sized rounds which had a plastic or painted coating on the exterior. They were in a round drum somewhat resembling an antique style "tommy gun". A bystander who was present mentioned that earlier the officer had stated that they were plastic bullets. To my knowledge the gun was not fired on November 9, 2011. If anyone has any further information on the type of injuries that this weapon might cause please post this in the comments.

Oakland Revolt: Occupy cop crackdown

The city of Oakland, California, is reeling after one of the biggest protests the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement has seen. About 80 demonstrators were arrested and several injured after what started as a peaceful rally was met with a heavy-handed police response at the end of the day. Hours before that, thousands of anti-corporate protesters forced a shutdown of America's fifth largest sea port. That's as the general strike - America's first in over half a century - also paralyzed several businesses in Oakland's downtown. RT correspondent, Lucy Kafanov, was at the very heart of unfolding events throughout and describes how they developed. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

From: Press TV US veterans join Occupy protests in NY Sat Nov 12, 2011 6:42AM GMT US veterans have joined the "Occupy Wall Street" movement in New York to protest against corporatism, social injustice and unemployment in the United States, Press TV reports. Marching on the US Veterans Day on Friday, the former US troopers, including many coming home from the US war in Iraq, said they were suffering from unemployment and were joining the "Occupy" movement to champion the anti-corporatism and anti-war cause. They also said that they were part of the 99 percent of the American population and that, back home now, they needed trainings to qualify for employment. www.presstv.ir .............................................................. This has never been released before. You can see how they were attacking us and the fact that we voiced our intentions of non-violence. The UCPD has responded on Nov. 28th with this letter.... berkeley.patch.com Do you still think that the administration is protecting students? Think about it..what could they be protecting here? The lawn? The "law"...which they broke since this assembly did not constitute an "unlawful" one..(I researched the laws) The private property of a public university? This is not just about police brutality, it's much more. Please think deeper before making judgements. Don't get hung up just on the police brutality...this represents something else.
