On October 15, 2011, between 10000 and 20000 people came to New York City's Times Square for "Occupy Times Square," a grassroots flashmob event, part of the greater Occupy Wall Street movement. This footage was taken from the west side of Broadway, just north of 43rd street, around 5:30 PM. Later, the NYPD decided to break up the protest, brought in horse-mounted police officers, and arrested 71 people for no reason other than they were in Times Square.

After being cordoned off by police in Times Square a group of us continued to challenge to be allowed out of the area we were being detained in, and to rejoin the larger group of protesters. One officer had an intensely emotional moment as the chant of "Fight crime, not freedom!" broke out. This video shows that the NYPD are not all against the Occupiers, and that indeed there are some that know that they too are the 99%!
