Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is an attraction at the Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida, United States. It is the signature ride of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter area of the theme park, and takes riders through scenes and environments in and around Hogwarts Castle from the various books and films of the Harry Potter series. Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative, described the ride as an in-depth look at the world of Harry Potter, which utilizes never before seen technology which transforms "the theme park experience as you know it". It opened with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter section on June 18, 2010. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey utilizes KUKA robocoaster technology, which allows the seats to pivot while being held above the track by a robotic arm. However, the ride is not a roller coaster but a scenic dark ride. The experience includes scenes such as flying around Hogwarts castle, encountering the Whomping Willow and a horde of Dementors, and being caught in a Quidditch match. Height: 181 ft Drop: 176 ft Max speed: 70 mph Inversions: 0 Duration 1:35 min El Toro is very different from a traditional wooden roller coaster because it is a prefabricated wooden roller coaster. This means that instead of trackers cutting, shaping, and laying down the track on site by hand, the track is laser cut in a factory. This means that the track is manufactured to a higher degree of precision than could ever be achieved by hand. The track is also made so that it snaps together like Lego pieces and is made of more layers of wood that are tightly bonded together instead of nailed together by hand like a traditional wooden roller coaster. This has three major benefits, two being to the park and the other being to the riders. The "Plug and Play" aspect of the coaster speeds construction of the coaster since track does not have to be completely manufactured on site. In addition, because of the speed of construction, the costs of building the coaster are lowered due to fewer manhours spent on the construction. The riders are subject to a coaster that is as smooth as steel. Roller coaster enthusiasts know that aspect takes away from the ride since it lacks the character of a traditional wooden roller coaster. Others appreciate its incredible airtime. The Incredible Hulk is a steel roller coaster located in Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida, USA. It is named for the popular comic book superhero character, the Hulk. Voted the #1 roller coaster by Discovery Channel viewers in 1999, the roller coaster is unique because it features a launch lift hill as opposed to conventional chain lifts. This means the train accelerates to 40 mph in a short time (approximately two seconds) before speeding through several inversions. When the Incredible Hulk opened, it featured the world's tallest cobra roll (110 feet (34 m)). The Incredible Hulk is the only launched roller coaster produced by Bolliger & Mabillard. It was the park's only thrill ride until the arrival of Kraken in 2000. Journey to Atlantis features a small aquarium exhibit, "Jewels of the Sea", in its gift shop exit area. Inside, guests will find aquaria built into the floor and the ceiling of the exhibit, along with more traditional aquaria. Journey to Atlantis begins as the boat is propelled via conveyor belt into a water flume meant to resemble an underwater canal. A siren beckons the boat closer until the mythical realm of Atlantis comes into view. The boat enters the city and all appears well, but soon the siren's true form is revealed, and the boat is carried up and out of the temple on a roller coaster chain lift hill. After a left-hand U-turn the boat starts up a second lift hill, entering a dry flume at the top of the hill that carries the boat to the large splash-down drop. The attraction's on-ride camera captures the boat's photograph as it slides down to the water below. The boat makes a right-hand U-turn leading to a short drop and a final lift hill that leads back into the temple for one final encounter with the siren. Built by Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland, it is the park's second roller coaster designed by the company after the success of Kumba. When the ride opened on May 16, 1996, it was the world's tallest and fastest inverted roller coaster. The ride stands at 150-foot-tall (46 m) and reaches 60 miles per hour (97 km/h). Previously, that record was held by the Raptor at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Montu's record was short lived; one year later, it was succeeded by Alpengeist at sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Montu, however, still holds the record for the number of inversions on an inverted coaster with seven. Montu is named after the Egyptian god of war Monthu. Guests begin their experience on Montu entering through the park's Egypt section. A small midway of games on one end and a replica of Tut's Tomb on the other end greets guests entering through the area. On the horizon, Montu looms ahead, along with a 50-foot-tall (15 m) pylon that houses a gift shop and restrooms. It was revealed that the ride would become "the tallest and fastest roller coaster on earth", reaching 456 feet and accelerating up to 128 miles per hour (206 km/h) in 3.5 seconds.Upon completion, Kingda Ka took both the "tallest" and "fastest" world records from the 2 year old Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.
