Brgy. Patag, Opol, Misamis Oriential 23 March 2011 President Benigno S. Aquino III, together with Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson, Misamis Oriental (MisOr) Governor Oscar Moreno and Australia Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith, graced the inauguration of the 9.1 km. newly-rehabilitated Opol-Basak-Tingalan Road. Governor Moreno briefed the President regarding the road as a joint project of the local government of Misamis Oriental and the Australian Agency for International Development (AUSAID) and part of the Provincial Roads Management Facility Program of AUSAID. The governor said that the road will help the people of MisOr to easily travel to neighbor provinces like Cagayan de Oro and Lanao provinces. President Aquino delivered a short remark commending the impressive road plan of the local government of MisOr and Australian government. He also said that he will constantly coordinate with the officials of the province to make sure that when he returns to the area, the road will be a cemented pavement that can withstand different weather conditions.
