A rare red algae found on Pakin Atoll, 25 miles off the shore of Pohnpei in Micronesia. Depth is around 70 feet.

With help from relatives of the "Pistol Pakin Mamma" crew, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, SN 42-72989, I was able to add some updated photographs to this tribute. Thanks Tim and Phil for your contributions!

B-24 Liberators and the Pistol Pakin Mam(m)a's
A tribute to the flyers who manned the B-24 Liberators during WWII, especially to my great-uncle Bob (1st Lt. Robert A. Dempster Jr.) who I never got to meet. He was pilot of the "Pistol Packin Mamma". Shot down while based at Isley Field, Saipan Island on Sept. 11, 1944. One survivor (now possibly 2) was captured by the Japanese, uncle Bob was not seen exiting the plane. Uncle Bob was with the 7th AF/ 30BG / 38th BS. If anyone has further information or photo's of B-24, Pistol Pakin Mamma, Serial Number 42-72989 I'd love to hear from you.
