Lonely Boy - Paul Anka

"Lonely Boy" is a song written and recorded by Paul Anka in 1959. Anka sang this song in the film Girls Town. When released as a single, it topped the Billboard Hot 100,[1] becoming Anka's first song to do so, although he had earlier topped Billboard's Best Sellers in Stores chart with "Diana". The song was covered in 1971 by Billy "Crash" Craddock, which was released on the album Knock Three Times. Donny Osmond had a 1972 single revival of the song, charting as the B-side to his hit single, "Why".
Paul Anka- Diana (The original recording 1957) With Lyrics.

At first I didn't know why this version sounded so different from the other versions on Youtube. But now I know, thanks to "wad44" : "This version of Diana is the first version recorded at ABC Paramount arranged by Don Costa in 1957. Most of the other versions from the youtube credited as "original" or "recorded in 1957" are the RCA version from 1963. Your version is far the best, can't even be compared with any other recorded later by him." ------------------------------ LYRICS: I'm so young and you're so old This, my darling, I've been told I don't care just what they say 'Cause forever I will pray You and I will be as free As the birds up in the trees Oh, please stay by me, Diana Thrills I get when you hold me close Oh, my darling, you're the most I love you but do you love me Oh, Diana, can't you see I love you with all my heart And I hope we will never part Oh, please stay with me, Diana Oh, my darlin', oh, my lover Tell me that there is no other I love you with my heart Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh Only you can take my heart Only you can tear it apart When you hold me in your loving arms I can feel you giving all your charms Hold me, darling, ho-ho hold me tight Squeeze me baby with-a all your might Oh, please stay with me, Diana Oh, please, Diana Oh, please, Diana Oh, please, Diana

Paul Anka - Papa

Everyday my papa would work to help to make ends meet To see that we would eat, keep those shoes upon my feet Every night my papa would take and tuck me in my bed Kiss me on my head after all the prayers were said Growing up with him was easy time just flew on by The years began to fly, he aged and so did I I could tell that mama wasn't well Papa knew and deep down so did she, so did she When she died my papa broke down and cried All he said was "God, why not take me?" Every night he sat there sleeping in his rocking chair He never went upstairs, all because she wasn't there Then one day my papa said "Son, I'm proud the way you've grown. Make it on your own. Oh, I'll be OK alone" Every time I kiss my children papa's words ring true "Your children live through you they'll grow and leave you, too" I remember every word my papa used to say I live them everyday he taught me well that way Every night my papa would take and tuck me in my bed Kiss me on my head when my prayers were said Every night my papa would take and tuck me in my bed Tuck me in my bed after my prayers were said ...

LINK: tinyurl.com One of the biggest teen idols of the late '50s, Paul Anka moved to the adult sphere several years later and became a successful performer, songwriter, music businessman, and recording artist, remaining so well into the new millennium. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1941 to parents of Lebanese Christian descent who owned a local restaurant, Anka proved a child prodigy, beginning his show business life at the age of 12 as an impressionist. By the age of 14, he was stealing the family car to drive to amateur singing contests in nearby Hull, Quebec, and writing his own songs. His first single, "I Confess," appeared on the Riviera subsidiary of Jules and Joe Bihari's RPM label. While on a trip to New York with a group of friends who sang as the Rover Boys, Anka gained an audition with ABC producer Don Costa, and sang his own composition, "Diana," an ode to a former babysitter. Costa liked what he heard, recorded the teenager, and watched as the single hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic later in 1957, eventually selling a reported ten million copies worldwide. Anka placed four songs in the Top 20 a year later, including "You Are My Destiny" and "Crazy Love," tempering the all-out rebellion of rock & roll with songs that questioned parental authority rather than promoting outright ...

Paul Anka - Jubilation

Issued March 1972 on Buddah 294. From the album "Jubilation" on Buddah BDS 5114. Paul Anka was in transition. Having moved to Buddah Records in 1971, he was onto the next thing after having been a teen idol and a Vegas lounge act. His first single for them was "This Is Your Song," which failed to register, but was redone in 1973 under Anka's supervision by Don Goodwin, who got airplay with it. The next single was "Jubilation." It only reached #65 in the Hot 100, but made #14 on CHUM and did similarly in other Canadian markets. Note that the single is six and a half minutes long. There is no edited version; radio stations would usually fade it out by 3:55. The rest was issued on a single on United Artists in 1973, as by The Johnny Harris Orchestra, titled "Johnny's Theme." The music is identical to this performance, and not a remake - it was hived off of the Paul Anka record and reissued under a different name. It didn't chart.
