Upper Posture Distortion

How can I determine if I have muscle imbalances? As already mentioned, most people exhibit signs of at least some muscle imbalance. Its hard to avoid for most people in the work force today, since so many occupations require postures and repetitive movements that contribute to imbalances. Even reading a book over long periods can contribute to the problem. Go to the mirror and look at yourself in profile. Notice your shoulders. Does your head sit forwards in front of your shoulders, or does it sit squarely on top? Do the palms of your hands face the wall behind you, your hips, or somewhere in-between? If your hands face the wall behind you, or are angled so your pinky is on the outside, you have what is called an upper extremities postural distortion, otherwise known as UEPD. When you wear pants with a belt, does the belt slant forwards or backwards? If it slants either way, you have what is called a lumbo-pelvic-hip complex postural distortion, or LPHC. Other signs of muscle imbalance As mentioned earlier, muscle imbalances do not always cause pain or discomfort. In most cases, an individual will not even notice it. But they often do notice weak areas in their physical strength and performance. Muscle imbalances impair your ability to reap the benefits of your workout! Most people join a gym to get in shape, diving into popular exercises such as the bench press, the lateral pull, leg extensions and leg presses. The irony is that when a person with muscle imbalances ...

Wang Pei Sheng 37 posture [1/2]

37 posture Wu form developed by master Wang Pei Sheng, a student of master Yang Yu Ting Wang Mao Zhai Lineages In 1953, he finished a great work, the Wu Style Thirty-Seven Posture Form. At that time, he was teaching at the Beijing Industrial College. Some faculty and students complained to him that the traditional form took too long. At over 40 minutes, many of the busy college faculty and students often did not have time to finish one repetition of the form. So Master Wang had the idea for a short form. The first thing he did was to remove all the repetitive movements, so that trimmed down the form to just 37 postures. Then he edited and rearranged these postures to create a new form. The logic he used was to put some of the simple and easy movements in the beginning of the form, with some complex and difficult movements in the middle, and finally some quiet and relaxing movements in the end. He kept experimenting with the new form as he started teaching it to people. He thought it can be make even more efficient, using even fewer postures. He analyzed the form in detail. Recalling his own learning experience, he realized the traditional approach relied on countless repetitions to finally drill into the student what the correct feelings should be, teachers really didn't explain much in detail. Using this approach, it is only those who are naturally more sensitive and intuitive who finally acquired the skills. For many others the skills and concepts remained very ...
Back Pain from Poor Posture, Why Sit Up Straight? Easy Tips by Catz Austin Physical Therapy

Back Pain from Poor Posture, Why Sit Up Straight? Easy Tips by Catz Austin Physical Therapy Poor posture and a slouched, slumped back can contribute to a wealth of physical dysfunction and pain in the back, hips, butt, thighs, legs, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, and well... you get the idea. In this video, Christie Powell, head of physical therapy at Catz Austin, explains how poor posture can cause low back pain and other issues like carpal tunnel and sciatica. This video and the rest of the series will give you easy tips and exercises to alleviate pain and discomfort. Often when we are sitting at the computer, watching TV or movies, playing video games, and driving, we slump into poor posture and a curved spine. This exerts pressure throughout the entire body and over time will severely weaken the shoulders and back so that sitting correctly becomes uncomfortable. The only way to improve posture is to begin changing your habits and to try and get in the habit of reminding yourself to sit up straight. A posture-buddy at work is a great idea so you can keep reminding each other, or you can set a timer or alarm on your desk. Part 2 will feature Ron Vaughn demonstrating some sports massage techniques to relax and unwind the muscles so the chest and pecs can loosen and open up, freeing the spine to move into its natural position. Part 3 will give you some easy exercises and stretches you can do at home to assist with a tight neck and shoulders or back pain. She also will show ...

integrationtraining.co.uk How harmful gender stereotype body posture in the media and portrayals of bad body postures and the body in the media create gender stereotypes and are harming us - warping our bodies and minds, making us aggressive or submissive. Gun Posture, Superman Sliding, Hip Sliding, Torque Loader...

Ok in this video we did a couple things before other players started showing up. We covered hip sliding, superman sliding, pads and protection, did a torque loader review, and did a Dynasty Drill. I know I said "I like this for beginner players" before doing the Dynasty Drill. I was referring to new TOURNAMENT players. Many times players who are starting out tournaments are afraid to bunker, and afraid of being shot up. This is a TOURNAMENT level drill, you NEVER do this drill with a new players. Newer Players = new tournament players afraid of bunkering people and getting shot Beginner Players = players who are beginning in the tournament scene. EDIT: I have gotten a couple of emails asking about the baseball popup slide. I personally do NOT recommend trying to do popup slides on the paintball field. I've seen TONS of players roll their ankles attempting pop up slides, especially on fields they aren't familiar with. If you can do a popup slide, congrats so can I, but I don't recommend it, hip sliding is safe and easy to do. Enjoy!

Health: Your Posture (1953)

Despite its title there's not much "health" in this film, and that's good; Centron abandoned the dull side of this topic to concentrate on the melodramatic -- social ostricism. And they did it with camera gimmickery! Good thinking! The films opens at a party. "Adrelene" is an attractive young girl who is not having a good time. The Centron narrator confides to us that Adrelene "usually sits all alone, slumped in her chair in the corner," and that, "for some reason, she doesn't fit into the picture -- but she doesn't know why." "What is it," he poses, "that creates this unfavorable impression the others have of her?" Then the fun begins. Adrelene goes home and begins admiring herself in her full-length bedroom mirror when, "What in the world? The mirror's gone crazy!" The mirror-image Adrelene puts her thumbs in her ears and wiggles her fingers. "You listen to ME for a change!" Adrelene's reflection yells at Adrelene. "I'm TIRED of helping you pretend! I can't show you how you REALLY look because when you're around me you put on an act! Do you want to see how you REALLY look?" The mirror-image Adrelene gives a demonstration of Adrelene's slouch; it's not pretty. "Yes, Adrelene, the mirror may have gone crazy, but for the first time it's telling you the truth," the narrator sighs. "Your POSTURE is your problem. What are you going to do about it?" "I'LL tell you what I'm going to do," Adrelene yells back, pointing to the mirror. "I'm going to make YOU a sight that I want to ...

Tai ji Quan 24 Posture 二十四式太极拳

www.wushushaolin.com The 24 posture Simplified Form of tai chi chuan, sometimes called the Beijing form for its place of origin, is a short version of Yang style tai chi composed of twenty-four unique movements. The form was the result of an effort by the Chinese Sports Committee which, in 1956, brought together four tai chi teachers - Chu Guiting, Cai Longyun, Fu Zhongwen and Zhang Yu - to create a simplified form of tai chi as exercise for the masses. The creators truncated the traditional Yang family hand form to 24 postures; taking between four and eight minutes to perform and to give the beginner an introduction to the essential elements of tai chi chuan, yet retain the traditional flavor of Yang style's longer hand forms (generally 88-108 postures).[1] Henceforth this form was avidly promoted by the People's Republic of China for general exercise, and was also taught to internees in Communist "re-education" camps. Due to this official promotion, the twenty-four form is most likely the tai chi form with the most practitioners in China and the world over (though no surveys have been performed). 1.
