Watch out Facebook, the Occupy protest is making its own social network. The Global Square is expected to launch in January 2012, providing a secure space for Occupy protestors to organize, share, and meet fellow protestors, according to its developers. It will also boast a Facebook-like news feed. Unlike Twitter and Facebook however, new Global Square members must be sanctioned by existing ones before being accepted. This news comes just days after Twitter reports it was subpoenaed by the Massachusetts DA's office for Occupy Boston account information. Developers hope to get the site up and running as soon as January, giving protesters somewhere to occupy during wintertime: their computers.

The man was then arrested and hauled off in a police van, presumably charged with some frivolous crime to cover up the unprovoked assault he suffered This is a video I edited down from an original. This shows a protestor getting punched in the face then tackled down. He is arrested then walked to a police van where he is searched (I presume illegally but we cant assume things) then left to wait in the police van. When Occupy Davis protesters began to be arrested, students banded together, chanting the police to release the captives and for more students to come support. Later on, the protesters sat down in linked arms, entrapping the police along with the captive. After trying to negotiate, rather than stepping over the students, the police pepper sprayed the students point blank in the face. Many sources reports that there are around 10 protesters, that is not true. The police only chose to spray these front individuals sitting near the roads. There were countless more peaceful protesters surrounding them on all sides! So there were not only 10! This video was shot right before, during, and after the pepper spraying and forceful removal of the protesters. I stood in disbelief as I watched the violence. Skip to 4:05 to where the police talks to the student one more time before bringing out the canister of pepper spray.

During the ongoing "Occupy Wall Street" protest a group of women, who were peacefully protesting inside an area cordoned off by the New York Police Department, were pepper sprayed by an NYPD officer. Not only was the unprovoked incident caught on video, but several high quality images of this cop were taken, revealing his identity as Deputy Inspector Anthony V. Bologna. If you're as disgusted as I am by officer Bologna's behavior - and the fact that this coward is in a position of power, supervising a significant number of other officers - put pressure on Mayor Bloomberg and the NYPD police commissioner to not only fire him, but investigate him for assault. Riot police fired tear gas at youths hurling rocks near the Greek finance ministry in Athens on Tuesday, as anger bubbled over on the first day of a general strike, and parliament debated new cost-cutting measures. Hooded youths ripped up paving stones and set rubbish bins on fire in central Athens as police gave chase and fired tear gas and stun grenades. Peaceful protesters nearby braved thick clouds of tear gas to stage an outdoor street party, banging pots and pans in time to music on loudspeakers. Some of them made human chains to protect the peaceful crowd from the rioters and the riot police battles, pushing back the police lines out of Syntagma Square, outside of the Greek parliament. Staff at upscale hotels handed out surgical masks to tourists and helped them with rolling luggage past the rioting, over ground strewn with smashed-up marble and cement paving stones. Youths torched a satellite truck parked near parliament. The fire caused a freezer at a neighboring kiosk to explode, and hooded youths ducked behind the burning truck to help themselves to ice-cream cones. Marbles were smashed by rioters to use as projectiles while popular McDonald's fast food restaurant was vandalized by protesters.
