cupcakeideasforyou.com Ingredients Make 12 8 tbsp butter, softened 115 g/4 oz caster sugar 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 tbsp milk Few drops of extract of rose oil ¼ tsp vanilla essence 175 g/6 oz self-raising flour Frosting 6 tbsp butter, softened 175 g/6 oz icing sugar pink or purple food colouring (optional) Silver dragees (cake decoration balls)a, to decorate Candied Rose petals 12-24 rose petals lightly beaten egg white, for brushing caster sugar, for sprinkling Method 1. To make the candied rose petals, gently rinse the petals and dry well with kitchen paper. Using a pastry brush, paint both sides of a rose petal with egg white, then coat well with caster sugar. Place on a tray and repeat with the remaining petals. Cover the tray with foil and set aside to dry overnight. 2. Put 12 paper baking cases in a muffin pan, or place 12 double-layer paper cases on a baking sheet. 3. Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Sit in the milk, rose oil extract and vanilla essence then, using a metal spoon, fold in the flour. Spoon the mixture into the paper cases. 4. Bake the cupcakes in a preheated oven, 200°C/400°F, for 12-15 minutes or until well risen and golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. 5. Ingredients: 3 cups / 7 deciliter all-purpose flour 1 cup / 250 grams butter 1 cup / 3 deciliter sugar 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoured sugar Purple / Red+Blue food coloring Sliced almonds Red and white decorators' frosting Heat up the butter a bit, until its almost melted, but just almost. Put it in a bowl, together with the sugar, vanilla flavoured sugar and the eggs. Mix it up! Then add the flour and the baking soda. Mix until its well blended. If its TO slimy, add a tablespoon of flour. Once the dough is sticking together, add the purple food coloring. Mix until the color is spread throughout the dough. Form the dough into balls, and then put them in the fridge for about an hour. Once the dough is cooled, roll out a ball with your hands into a log shape. Use a roller and run over the dough a few times to stretch and flatten it. Slice the bottom half of the shapes into five or more parts. The more you make however, the smaller the tentacles will be. Five will do just fine! Then shape them into more tentacle like shapes. Transfer to a greased cookie sheet and shape the legs. Press some almond slices down into the dough to create Ultros' grinning mouth. Pop into the oven for about twelve minutes at 350 F or 175 C. Would you eat ant larvae, deep-fried scorpions or grilled palm weevils? Most people turn their noses up at this kind of thing, some get an overwhelming sense of nausea, and one (usually very cool) BBC channel controller ran squealing across the room when I dropped a roasted giant water bug into his hands.
