Listen to a segment of Val's superb playing of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.1 in Köln on 10 December 2010, while I show you something quite amazing from my visit to Val backstage in Köln. The Concerto #1-score Val uses for study+rehearsal is somehow 'irreplaceable'. It's a Russian edition, published in 1946, one she's used to and an edition of which she hasn't been able to find another copy. When I noticed the score backstage in the Kölner Philharmonie, I thought it would be nice to take a picture of Val with her very special Rachmaninoff #1 score :) Pictures in this video owned by Pieter de Rooij.
