Raila on PEV Responsibility

Prime Minister Raila Odinga has re-ignited debate on who actually bears overall responsibility over the 2007/08 post election violence. Odinga told the high court sitting in Nairobi today that he thought president Kibaki should take personal and political responsibility for the post poll skirmishes, and particularly the atrocities allegedly committed by state security apparatus in the wake of the chaos. But in a prompt response to Odinga's allegations, president Kibaki said he would not be drawn into blame games, since Kenyans by now knew how the violence erupted and how it ended. But, in a statement released by the prime minister's office moments ago, Odinga said his answers to questions posed in court were being taken out of context, adding that it was not his intention to assign blame for the post election violence, during his appearance as a witness in court this morning.
