Mayfield Station in Manchester, UK Opened on 8 August 1910 by the London & North Western Railway, Manchester Mayfield was built alongside Manchester London Road station (later Piccadilly) to handle the increased number of trains and passengers following the opening of the Styal Line in 1909. It was connected to London Road via a high-level footbridge. It was mainly used by suburban services to the south of Manchester, but a number of main line services used it during busy periods. Mayfield suffered the effects of bombing during World War II, when it was hit by a land mine (parachute mine). It came into its own for a brief period during the electrification and modernisation of what was to become Piccadilly Station in the late 1950s, when many services were diverted to it after a restoration of sorts It was closed to passengers on 28 August 1960 & remained closed until 1970. The site was converted into a parcels depot which opened on 6 July 1970. Royal Mail constructed a sorting office on the opposite side of the main line and connected it to Mayfield with an overhead conveyor bridge which crosses the throat of Piccadilly Station. The depot closed in 1986 following the decision by Parcelforce, Royal Mail's parcels division, to abandon rail transport in favour of road haulage. The building has remained disused ever since, with the tracks into Mayfield removed in 1989 as part of the remodelling of the Piccadilly Station layout.

The reason for such move was to create additional land needed for rail line duplication, and in turn will allow more train services and thus will be beneficial in the long term, in terms of serving the area with trains as transport. Here we have Coatbridge, a good place for freights, mostly coals to and from Longannet Power station. At the start of the video, we see 92017, 'Bart the Engine', sitting in Mossend Yard, along with many other electric locos (86/90/92's) including 90036, in Railfreight Distribution livery. We then see the star of the show, which is 66152 working 6G08 Hunterston to Longannet. Afterwards we see 66423 work 4M82 from Coatbridge, 66037 working 6N35 to Grangemouth from Mossend, 66011 working 4R08 from Longannet to Hunterston and finally a small treat from Cumbernauld which is 66053 working 4D47 from Inverness to Mossend. This is the third in a number of video's including the SouthWest Trains TOC after you people voted for it as the second train company for me to film after in my TOC voting video. This series is split into two parts: Part 1: The South-Western Mainline Part 2: Clapham Junction and Berkshire This Video includes all of SouthWest Trains' EMU fleet including Seimens Desiro classes 444 and 450, Alstom Juniper class 458 and BR class 455 excluding the slam-door units. Also included are DMU class 159 which form the services to Exeter St. Davids and long distance non-electrified routes. Clapham Juntion is Britain's busiest station and is situated on the merger of many lines from Brighton, Staines, Reading, Eastleigh and Weymouth to name some into termini including London Victoria and Waterloo. In this video, footage from the daytime and nighttime is used, the latter includes some fast ECS moves through the station. In the next video there will be a small amount of bonus footage including a Southern Class 377 arrival at Clapham at nighttime and also First Great Western DMU class 165/166 fast workings through Winnersh Triangle on services to Reading and Gatwick Airport. This film starts with a class 501 leaving Broad Street Station, it then switches to some slides I took of a class 313 at this station while it was being knocked down for redevelopment, with just the one platform still open. Then we see some 501's using the bridge over Kingsland Road. Then there is a wide variety of trains at Canonbury station, including diesels on the Camden Road - Stratford shuttle (before the line was electrified) as well as 501's, 416's, 313's and a Class 31-hauled MK1 train - complete with buffet car! Finally we go to Dalston Kingsland and in addition to some 416's we see some 313's switching between ac and dc so that they can use the Graham Road spur to reach Liverpool Street Station.

A short video of trains calling at South Ealing London Underground station during the evening rush hour. Nowadays this station is only served by the Piccadily Line, although there was a time when District Line trains came here too. This station features four tracks and although the eastbound track formerly used by the District Line trains is now only used for test trains (ie: not in passenger service) both westbound tracks are still used as it helps regularise the service further back along the line - and means that trains terminating at the next station (Northfields) and going into the depot can be emptied of passengers without delaying other trains continuing further down the line to Heathrow Airport.
