Film critic Lalit Rao's first question to Thai director Pen Ek Ratanaruang was about Dutch producer Wouter Barendrecht,founder of Fortissimo Films. Mr.Lalit Rao praised Wouter's contribution to Asian cinema in a comment he wrote on the website of French news magazine "Le Point." This interview took place during 14th International Film Festival of Kerala 2009 where film critic Lalit Rao saw 5 films directed by Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. He liked very much "Monrak Transistor" :) which was a pure entertainer.

The film is notable for being trilingual; the two main characters flit from Thai to Japanese to English as their vocabulary requires. The film stars Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano and Sinitta Boonyasak.
