Andy Gray and Richard Keys have been accused of "appalling and damaging" sexism afer they were caught on microphone criticising Sian Massey, 25, before Liverpool's match against Wolverhampton on Saturday. Apparently believing that their microphones were switched off, they also mocked Karren Brady, the West Ham vice chairman, who had written a newspaper column about sexism the same day. Commenting on Miss Massey, Mr Keys said: "Somebody better get down there and explain offside to her." Mr Gray replied: "Can you believe that? A female linesman. Women don't know the offside rule." Mr Keys replied: "Course they don't. I can guarantee you there will be a big one today. Kenny [Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish] will go potty. This isn't the first time, is it? Didn't we have one before?" Yesterday Mr King Kenny's daughter, Kelly Cates, mocked the two presenters' comments in a message on the social networking site Twitter. Mrs Cates, a former Sky Sports News presenter who now works for ESPN, wrote: "Phew am exhausted. Just read about something called "the offside rule". Too much for my tiny brain. Must be damaged from nail polish fumes." :) Miss Massey angered Wolves fans during the game, which Liverpool won 3-0, by refusing to rule Raul Meireles offside before he set up Liverpool's first goal. In the hour long interview on Talksport's Hawksbee & Jacobs show the football anchor also talked about how Karen Brady refused to return his calls. Keys said "We were wrong. It was wrong. It shouldn't have happened, but there are some dark forces at work here. "From something that was controllable, I have found the reaction to be extraordinary. I cannot believe the frenzy that's blown up. If I had been able to get out the fact that I'd apologised on Sunday I don't think it would have been as frenzied as it has been. "I made an official apology to Sian on behalf of Andy and myself. This was on Sunday afternoon -- not on Monday at 5pm as was later reported. Sian and I enjoyed some banter, and we left on very good terms. I expressed my disappointment that Andy and I, in misguidedly having a little fun, got it wrong. It was wrong."

His fellow presenter, Andy Gray, had already been sacked by the broadcaster for his part in the scandal, which first erupted last weekend when details of a conversation between the pair was leaked to a Sunday newspaper. In a statement, Keys said: "I am deeply sorry for my remarks and the offence they have caused; it was wrong and should not have happened. I have thought long and hard and reached the decision that it is time to move on. "Going forward without Andy would have been almost impossible. "I am and will remain proud of our work with football at Sky Sports and grateful to the many people who have worked with me. I wish Sky Sports continued success in the future
