This is the Russian-made Baikal Ij-70 pistol. aka the "makarov" It was produced mainly during the cold war, and was discontinued in 1996. It's a copy of the Walther Police Pistol, it has a larger trigger guard so that Russian soldiers could reach the trigger while wearing there winter gloves. It was chambered for a Russian version of the .380 ACP. The russian Cartridge used an .364 bullet in a case that was 1mm longer than a .380. It became known as the 9mm Makarov or 9x18. It has a fixed barrel which is a plus for accuracy. It's a conventional double-action/single action semi-automatic pistol with a hammer drop safety on the side. The pistol was produced by various Communist Contries locally in their own factories, the quality of workmanship varied depending on what country manufactured it. East German, and Russian models are regarded as the best, while the Chinese models are regarded as the worst.
