Salisbury Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England, considered one of the leading examples of Early English architecture.[1] The main body was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258. The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft). Visitors can take the "Tower Tour" where the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wood scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres). Orlando Gibbons (1583 - 1625) belongs to the generation of English composers that followed that of William Byrd, forty years his senior, who had died in 1623. He was a chorister at King's College, Cambridge, where his elder brother was Master of the Choristers, and later became a gentleman of the Chapel Royal, which he served as an organist and to which he later added the position of organist at Westminster Abbey. He wrote music for the Church of England, madrigals, consort music and keyboard works. According to several interviews, he was also Goulds favorite composer (even if he alternated with JS Bach).

As a firefighter, I felt that this had to be made. For healing; for closure; but mainly for the fact that we are ALL FAMILY in the fire service. No matter where or when you do or have served. On Friday, March 7, 2008, Firefighters from the Salisbury, NC fire department responded to a confirmed working fire at a millworking factory. This ended up being an "All-Hands" fire; eventually going to 5 alarms; requiring a firefighting response from more than 4 counties. Firefighters, Justin Monroe, and Victor Isler; along with their Captain, Rick Barkley entered as one of many attack crews. During early operations they became trapped by heavy fire and "deteriorating conditions"; along with inadequate water supply. Following a "Mayday" call, RIT (Rapid Intervention Team)crews entered and were immediately able to rescue Captain, Barkley. Unfortunately, due to horrible conditions, they were unable to immediately locate Justin or Victor. They both were located after several other attempts were made, but they both succombed to there exposure to "high heat and carbon monoxide". Two of our brothers did not return home. It is with great tribute that I made this video. It is a tribute to them; to their families; to their service; and to their sacrifice; as well as to the gallant efforts of those who made the rescue attempts; and to those that live by the creed,"YOU GO!! The ancient cathedral of Salisbury houses one of Britain's most unusual art treasures. This engraved glass prism (the Rex Prism) was made by Sir Laurence Whistler as a memorial to his artist brother Rex who lived in the cathedral close and was killed in the 2nd World War. Partial images engraved near the prism edges are completed by total internal reflection and become visible through the opposing faces as the prism rotates. The result is a succession of spectral images depicting scenes in and around the cathedral.

I was mid way through a 7 day all-liner back in 91...and turned up at waterloo on sat morning to take a nose at the 10.15 to Salisbury which was 50027 on the end and 33102 on the blocks..50027 was failed and 33102 took the 10.15 to Salisbury... after departing waterloo on 33102 to Salisbury 33026 passed us light en route to work the 11.15 waterloo-Exeter.. anyway... ended up at Exeter having 33026 there after 33102 to Salisbury. the mad thing was we got 3 33's back 33030,33114 & 33026 (dit) worked the 16.22 Exeter-Waterloo a few attempts were made at Exeter to multi up 026 with the other two but unfortalitly to no avail... 33114 worked solo back to Waterloo after dropping of 33026 & 33030 at Salisbury.

The last day of summer heralded the mid-week appearance of two steam tours through Wiltshire: The Bristol bound "Bath Spa Express" hauled by 60019 Bittern dressed in full LNER streamlining and masquerading as 4492 Dominion of New Zealand, and 70000 Britannia at the head of a "Cathedrals Express" tour to Salisbury. Deep in the heart of the Wyle valley wheatfields, even the Roe deer hind and foal seem undisturbed by the streak as she purrs along the track giving a splendid view of the fully streamlined panels and an impression of the Art Deco style these gorgeous locos typify. Next, a farm crossing at Porton on the Waterloo mainline, where 70000, running just a little late, surprises me with what must surely be well in excess of 75mph! and proving that I should have slackened the pan head a little more!! Salisbury Central next for the departure of 70000 where, after reversing the train into platform 4, the crew have to be careful with the regulator as the full load of 14 coaches (increased by the effect of the curved track) is eased away, with just a couple of small slips before the big pacific gets into her stride. The empty platform is soon filled with the returning Bath Spa Express, allowing me a quick close-up glance before rushing off across town to catch the A4 rounding Tunnel Junction, accelerating head-on and taking the sharp curve at Milford. Note: this shot was taken on private property for which I was kindly given permission by the owners.

This is me messing about with my Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe organ featuring a 3rd of the Father Willis organ in Salisbury Cathedral UK. This is a collection of 5 Advent & Christmas Carols warts and all because I had only just woken up when I played them and was playing without music. I am also only using one keyboard and had to change the stops while playing using the mouse hence some wrong notes in places.
