I am working on remedying this issue. ***** PART 1 of interviews conducted with available emeriti faculty in the Sociology Department at Kent State University during January and February of 2009. I asked them a number of questions, including: (1) Is sociology a 'tradition' in any sense? (2) What is sociology to you? (3) What drew you to sociology? And (4) What is the single most important bit of wisdom that you'd like to share with bright, young minds who might be thinking about a career in sociology? For the opening shots, I tried to use Magic Bullet Looks to capture the spirit of tradition by going for a "bronzy," aged kind of look. It works for me, but I'm not sure how more experienced eyes will relate to it. I had a limited number of shots to work with, as this was my first time using the Letus Mini with my Canon HV30, and much of what I ended up with didn't look presentable at all - too much vignetting, focusing problems, etc. I used all that was usable. A DVD version of the video will be aired on May 1, 2009 at the annual banquet of the Sociology Honors Society, which this year will include a part in the program where the emeriti faculty will be formally recognized for their contributions to the department, university, and discipline - in short, for their contributions toward carrying on the 'tradition' of sociology.
