Mercedes has officially unveiled the SLS AMG Roadster, ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Designed to be the pinnacle of open-top motoring, the Roadster features a three-ply soft top that can be raised or lowered in eleven seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). While the roof is fully automatic and has a glass rear window, it doesn't steal any trunk space as the SLS has a cargo capacity of 6.1 cubic feet (173 liters) regardless of the top's position. Inside, the cabin is elegantly appointed with designo leather upholstery, metallic trim and AMG sports seats with AIRSCARF. Options include a Bang & Olufsen audio system and an AMG Performance Media system that displays real-time vehicle information. Power is provided by a 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine that produces 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h), same as the SLS Gullwing. To ensure the Roadster handles just like the SLS Gullwing, engineers made numerous improvements to strengthen the chassis. Despite the changes, Mercedes estimates the car will weigh 3661 pounds (1661 kg) which is just 88 lbs (40 kg) heavier than the coupe. A lovely and powerfull sounding SLS AMG accelerating very nice! A few weeks ago I had way more video's about this same SLS AMG (revving and more accelerating). But unfortunately my pc crashed! Now I finally got some new accelerations recorded of this SLS AMG :) But the second acceleration after the first gear does sounds very werid, does anyone know what it is? I spotted this Matte Purple wrapped Mercedes SLS in Knightsbridge London and promptly followed to hear some of the glorious sounds produced by the 6.2l monster under the bonnet; and it truly is wonderful. Gijs records a beautiful dark red Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG at a gas station in Nürburg, Germany. You will see it startup first and then do two accelerations. You can also see a Nissan GT-R, Porsche 997 Turbo S and a Ferrari 458 Italia in this video. These cars were there for a test from the german automagazine Autobild. They were also testing a Lexus LFA, Wiesmann GT MF5 and a Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggera! Amazing too see all of these cars together (although you will only see a small part of them in this video).
