The Axolotl is the luckiest animal in all of Mexico, for he exhibits a property called neoteny, meaning that he reaches sexual maturity without undergoing metamorphosis. The axolotl can be induced to metamorphose by drinking salamander goo. Isn't that BRILLIANT? We just HAD to write a song about it. Get the song on iTunes now! itunes.apple.com More of this stuff at: www.rathergood.com Get your amazing axolotl tshirt here! http

Giant salamanders, some growing up to 5-feet in length, face a barrier of dams in Japan, built to control flooding. Now it's hoped a new system will help these giant amphibians get upstream past the dams to lay their eggs.

California salamanders are a case of evolution in action. Video from PBS.

This video presents to the layman an example of evolution as an ongoing process: The Ensatina salamanders surrounding California's Central Valley. CORRECTION: Approximately 42 seconds into the video, I made a geographical error. I incorrectly say, "... the San Francisco and San Juaquin Valleys ..." when what I MEANT to say was "... the Sacramento and San Juaquin Valleys." CREDITS: Salamander photos © Gary Nafis. ... what Salamander? Yet again! No more, ACE, no more! This is really just a filler video. Since MAME doesn't want to co-operate, I went for the closest the X68000 version... which admittedly is a very nice emulator to use, and is almost the same as the arcade version. (A couple of the bosses are pansies in this version though.) I don't know, I find Salamander and all it's abomination off-spring fairly interesting, each port has something completely different about it. (Be it completely re-worked bosses (Commodore 64 version), or just.. plain new stages and bosses (See NES and MSX version.) Fun fact: The Final Boss actually killed me the first time I fought it. No joke. I was NOT expecting it to do what it did. (And I'm not talking about the Ultimate dick move they pull AFTER it.) I do intend to record the MSX version of the game but thats mostly because its nothing like the Arcade version at all! Out of all the ports, its definitely the oddest (Yes, this takes the Spectrum version into account.), and it only shares a few things (Music and 3 of the bosses at most) with its bigger brother. As I said, this is a filler video. Im actually uploading something completely different as we speak. Well not completely different.. but a different game at least, XD

www.oaecwater.org Special Report on the slayings of rare California Tiger Salamanders on a Sonoma County Road, and one easy thing you can do to save the rest of them! from Center for Biological Diversity: "SAVING THE CALIFORNIA TIGER SALAMANDER With its wide mouth charmingly outlined in yellow, the California tiger salamander always looks like it's smiling. But this beautiful amphibian is a discriminating species that can only thrive in unique — and now extremely rare — habitats. As California's vernal pools, grasslands, and oak woodlands disappear, the tiger salamander has fewer and fewer reasons to grin. The species' plight is particularly extreme in Sonoma County, where development threatens 95 percent of remaining salamander habitat, and the Santa Barbara population — although it was luckily listed as federally endangered in 2000 — is still on the verge of winking out." It will take only 45 seconds of your time to contact the state and ask them to keep the endangered status of the California Tiger Salamander! See how at www.oaecwater.org (no salamanders were hurt in the production of this report)

Salamanders are one of the oldest groups of existing terrestrial vertebrates. Salamanders are amphibians, related to frogs and toads. Because of their secretive nature and nocturnal lifestyle, salamanders are one of the least studied groups of animals. They love dark, wet places, often in deep woods, which is one reason why salamanders are the subjects of numerous myths and legends. Traditional folklore held that salamanders could survive in fire. Salamanders are extremely sensitive to changes in their ecosystems, and the health of local salamander populations often mirrors the health of the habitat as a whole.

slightly better quality link www.youtube.com Another game I wanted to complete and to replace the older vids. 2 x deaths here the first was on the 5th stage where the enemy bullet didnt show up on the capture card and at the 6th Stage on Zelos fortress my nerves were beginning to show. Yup this is a pretty tense game. Really hard game which you wont appreciate at first because of the difficulty Some of the flashing when playing this game is almost enough to give seizures! Other thing I would like to point out is that it DOES have a 2 play co-op mode. Lord British and Vic Viper onscreep together with double the monsters and double the intensity!!!! Stage 1 - Bionic Germ (BGM Power of Anger) Stage 2 - Meteorite Space (BGM Fly High) Stage 3 - Burning Chaos (BGM Planet Latis) Stage 4 - Volcano (BGM Starfield) Stage 5 - Asteroid Hell (BGM Burn the Wind) Stage 6 - Fortress Zone (BGM Destroy them All) This is one of those games where you wish there was a music option but sadly there isn't any..
