Samsung Focus S Unboxing

Focus S or Lumia 800? pdog.ws Think iOS and Android are all that's around this holiday season? Think again! Aaron unboxes the Samsung Focus S, a second-generation Windows Phone device that's available now at AT&T. It packs a 1.4 GHz single-core Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, a front-facing shooter for those video calls (which you can now do in Mango), and Windows Phone 7.5. It's a nice phone that closely resembles the Android-powered Galaxy S II line, but it's a pricey $199.99. Will it sell well when you can snag the HTC Vivid or Apple iPhone 4S for the same price? AT&T Samsung Focus S Software Tour

For more info, see: pocketnow.com The Samsung Focus S is running Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 7.5 operating system. If you haven't already, be sure to check our our Windows Phone 7.5 [pocketnow.com review for all of the details and new features that it brings. Of course, Samsung has done some customizations and AT&T has bundled a few AT&T branded apps as well, so that's what we're going to look at in the below video. You'll also see what kind of customizations Samsung has done to the camera. I like the "wide dynamic range" option, but it doesn't have anything comparable to what HTC has done with the panaramic and burst shot photo options. We'll also take a look at what kind of speed increase you might see in some of the games. For the most part the Focus S might seem just as quick as last year's Windows Phones, and it is, but you'll see there's definitely a speed increase when loading processor intensive apps and games.

Samsung Focus S Approved By FCC, Mango a Week Away & Dell Leaving Windows Phone? WPV

Why WP7 Doesn't Support Dual-Core: bit.ly Watch this week's Windows Phone view as we wrap-up all this week's good and bad inside the world of Microsoft's Windows Phone platform. In today's show we begin by talking about the recent confirmation we received from the Windows Phone blog regarding Mango and it's release date within either next week or the following. We also go through the Samsung Focus S and how it already received FCC approval. We talk about the reasons why Windows Phone 7 doesn't support dual-core processors, and why that's still not an issue any of us should worry about. We breeze through Windows 8 and how it seems to support more than the Metro UI with a phone call feature, and details on when we might get the WhatsApp messenger many of us have been waiting for. We end the Good section by going through some recent awards that Windows Phone 7 has received thanks to its innovative design. In the bad section we cover the sad news about Dell probably dropping Windows Phone 7 in the future, and why we think the rumors hold water. All this and more after the break. Samsung Focus S (AT&T) Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone review

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Focus S is the second of two new Windows Phone 7.5 smartphones released by AT&T and Samsung this fall. Featuring a 4.3-inch, Super AMOLED Plus display and an 8.5mm thick frame, the Focus S is a dead ringer for the Galaxy S II Android smartphones from Samsung. It is powered by a 1.4GHz, single-core processor and has 16GB of internal storage, but lacks microSD expansion - like most Windows Phone smartphones. The Focus S has the same 8 megapixel autofocus camera as found on the Galaxy S II models, but it can only record 720p video, instead of 1080p. The Focus S is available now from AT&T for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. More info: www.mobileburn.com

Read More: AT&T Samsung Focus S Unboxing bit.ly We just got a new Samsung Focus S for AT&T and here's our unboxing video. The device has a usually orange AT&T branding on it and not too many special details about the phone on the back. Inside you get a quick-start guide right on top, a manual underneath the phone, a charger with USB port, a Micro-USB cable, and some headphones that look pretty nice. There's also different size earbuds for the headphones so you can find one that fits. Interestingly, there's a big sticker on the phone's screen that warns against texting while driving, but this phone with Windows Phone 7.5 probably has the best hands-free text messaging speech interface around.

Samsung Focus S Hands On

Samsung Focus S Hands On Samsung has refocused some of its efforts into the Windows Phone realm with the Samsung Focus S for AT&T. Upgrades from last year's focus include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, thinner profile, 1080p HD video capture, and 1.4GHz processor. Oh, and it's got juicy Windows Phone Mango 7.5 built in. The intriguing thing about the Samsung Focus S is that it's $199.99 with a two-year AT&T contract, however its littler sibling, the Samsung Focus Flash is a mere $49.99 on contract. Granted, the Focus Flash has a smaller 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen and 5-megapixel camera, but the processors and operating systems on each phone are identical. Samsung Focus S vs. Samsung Focus Flash (Mango Showdown!)

Samsung Focus S vs. Samsung Focus Flash (Mango Showdown!) In New York we were given the opportunity to play with four new Samsung phones and two of them happened to be the Samsung Focus S and Samsung Focus Flash. Both Windows Phone Mango devices feature 1.4GHz processors and Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating systems, but the Focus S has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen while the Focus Flash retains a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display. The Focus S also has an 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video while the Focus Flash has a 5-megapixel shooter with 720p capability. But the biggest difference was the price between the two. The Samsung Focus S is $199.99 on contract while the Focus Flash is a mere $49.99 on contract. Check out our comparison video featuring the two devices above. Samsung Focus S Hands On review Official

If you've ever held a Galaxy S II you should immediately feel at home with the Focus S. They're both cut from the same cloth (or sheet of plastic, as it were). The larger of Samsung's Windows Phone 7 devices is an entirely synthetic affair. The edges of the handset are the same glossy black polymer that has come to define the Korean manufacturer's products over the last few years. Thankfully, the company has continued its recent trend of using textured, matte battery plates that, while not any more robust than their high-sheen counterparts, feel quite a bit nicer. That pleasant feeling disappears the moment you have to remove that rear covering, however. The seemingly flimsy plastic is the same as that found on the GSII. It's proven fairly resilient, but it bends dramatically as you pry it from the rear by sliding your fingernail underneath the top right-hand corner. Honestly, we don't have any major complaints about the Samsung Focus S, but there wasn't much that wowed us either. If you're a Windows Phone 7 fan you'll find plenty to like about the device. Mango hums along nicely and the Super AMOLED Plus display, despite its shortcomings in the pixel density department, perfectly highlights the stark beauty of Microsoft's mobile OS. There's also a very good camera with a dedicated dual-stage button and the battery life borders on epic. But, none of that changes the fact that we came away feeling underwhelmed.
