You can travel to Amsterdam Central Station very easily by train; this takes about 15 minutes. You can walk straight to the train station from the arrival hall, through the shopping center Schiphol Plaza. You can buy train tickets from the yellow ticket machines or at the ticket offices, both located close to the platforms. Badhoevedorp - Flink druk was het zondag rondom brandweerpost Sloten op Schiphol. Op deze zonnige nazomerdag trokken veel mensen erop uit om een kijkje te nemen op de Open Dag van brandweer Schiphol. Post Sloten was vandaag opengesteld om het publiek ook een blik te gunnen in de wereld van de brandweer van Schiphol. Nabij post Sloten staat de "firefly" van Schiphol. Dit is een nagebouwd vliegtuig, waarin verschillende brand-en ongevallenscenario's kunnen worden nagbootst, zodat de brandweermannen goed getraind blijven voor een eventueel echt ongeval met een vliegtuig. Elke dag traint de brandweer van Schiphol in dit vliegtuig. Vandaag kon het publiek zien hoe dat in zijn werk gaat. Aan de rechtervleugel werd om de anderhalf uur een flinke brand geësceneerd. Hierop kwamen de twee crashtenders het terein op rijden om het vliegtuig te blussen. Niet alleen kon je naar demonstraties van vliegtuigbrandbestrijding kijken, maar ook het onderdeel hulpverlening kwam aan de orde. Ook stonden er verschillende brandweer- en andere hulpverleningsvoertuigen te wachten om bekeken te worden. De hal waar normaal de sneeuwschuifers van Schiphol staan, was nu een gezellige plek geworden, waar je wat kon eten en drinken en voor de kinderen was er een springkussen en een prijsvraag.
