Altough the water temperature was between 5 and 6 degrees Celcius i did two dives (85 and 96 minutes long) My face was well frozen, i can hardly speak afterwards. While SCUBA diving in places like the Keys, Bahamas or Cayman Islands are much more scenic and colorful, one advantage of living the past 30+ years in South Florida is the ability to beach dive whenever you have some spare time. In much of the United States, there is really not much to see underwater within swimming distance of the shoreline. But in South Florida (starting approximately at the West Palm Beach and southward region), you can strap on your tanks and gear, swim out about 500 yards with a dive flag in tow and drop down to 20-25 feet and spend 90 minutes underwater enjoying the northern-most edges of the tropical reefs that become larger and more scenic as you head into the true tropics of the Caribbean. So while it may not be as grand and colorful and a full blown dive vacation to the islands, it is nearby and cheap. At a moments notice, you can throw your tanks and gear in the car -- drive 30 minutes to the beach -- and be exploring the reefs within the hour. Figure $4 for an air fill and $6 for a slice of pizza and soda when you get back on land and it makes for a great inexpensive way to spend the day for $10. This video shows what lies underwater just a few hundred yards offshore at Hollywood Beach Florida. This beach is pretty much equidistant between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach along the East Coast. A much quieter and less populated beach area as the video reveals (although sadly, signs of urban sprawl are getting closer each year) Enjoy.

Boat dive to the Blue Hole in Guam, a 127ft-130ft deep exit and slow ascend back. This is the first video I have taken underwater, and the first one using the GoPro HD camera. You can clearly see well the camera works on the surface but, once underwater it shows signs of blurred image -- this was addressed by the GoPro team saying that they will soon provide a new housing with better lens. This is a great and fun dive that you should try if you are visiting or living in Guam, just remember to check your depth gauge frequently because the drop after the hole can go as deep as 300ft.

To my subscribers : obviously this video is not about airsoft, but scuba diving, which is one of my other hobby (because yes, unlike popular belief, my whole life does not turn around airsoft only). I'm a CMAS ** diver (plongeur niveau II in french). Therefore you may not be interested in this video, which is indeed very long and, I have to say, pretty boring. I guess. I like the video, it makes a nice souvenir to me, but I guess it's a bit slow and long ^^ I've been diving in Cape Verde during the first half of september. Cape Verde is an island country, spanning an archipelago of 10 islands located in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa (thank you Wikipedia). On this particular dive, I was in Santa Maria, the major city of Sal, the island in the north east of Cape Verde. There is 2 points for this video : - To show a nice wreck dive in a nice dive spot in Cape Verde. - To show the performances of an "out of the box" HD GoPro camera under water. I'm using nothing but the camera, the waterproof case and the head bang. I have not buy any other accessorie. The camera is placed on my front head, just on the top of my diving mask (you can see me putting off my mask at the end of the video). As you can see the image is very blue, and a bit blurred. But honestly I'm very surprised, I think the image is really not that bad. The maximum depth of the diving was 38 meters.
