Here's a little video I put together for a little known careerfiel in the Air Force, the SERE Specialists. They are not pararescue jumpers but they save lives everyday by teaching others how to survive anywhere anytime, and return with honor. I hope to join the ranks of these fine people here in the near future.

General Info If you are looking for excitement, challenge, and a chance to teach others, then SERE Specialist may be the right career for you. Our mission is to prepare aircrew and high risk of capture DOD personnel to survive under any conditions. SERE Specialists train over 6500 aircrew members a year in the proper use of principles, techniques, equipment, and procedures necessary to survive anywhere in the world. As a SERE Specialist you will become an expert on the methods used to survive in the arctic, desert, open ocean, jungle, mountain regions, in-combat and captivity situations. Through training, you will learn the skills necessary to pass your knowledge on to others. SERE Specialists can "talk the talk" because they have "walked the walk. Additionally, because of the intense instructional program, you are authorized to wear the SERE Beret, SERE Specialist Arch, and the AETC Instructor badge upon completion of Tech school. After completion of the SERE Indoctrination Course at Lackland AFB TX, all approved applicants are assigned to Fairchild AFB, Washington where your training will take place. Before starting technical training you will complete the Combat SERE Training course and the Water Survival, Non-Parachuting course. The Combat SERE Training course is a 17 day course that includes eleven days of academic, laboratory, and field training over survival and evasion techniques followed by six days of academic and laboratory training on surviving captivity. SERE School
The Navy and Marine Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) course is held a at remote training site in the mountains of Maine. SERE is an advanced code of conduct course. All military personnel get their initial code-of-conduct instruction during basic training, where they are taught an American service member's legal responsibilities if captured by enemy forces. Survival Evasion Resistance & Escape SERE 1
SERE is a military acronym for Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape, a program that provides military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and private military contractors with training in evading capture, survival skills and the military code of conduct. Established by the United States Air Force at the end of the Korean War (1950--53), it was extended during the Vietnam War (1959--75) to the Army, Navy and Marines. Most higher level SERE students are military aircrew and special operations personnel considered to be at high risk of capture. The Air Force SERE School is located at Fairchild AFB, Washington, while SERE Training for the US Army is located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The Navy and Marine Corps SERE School has two locations: the US Navy Remote Training Site at Warner Springs, California and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. Code of conduct: SERE training is intended, above all, to provide students with the skills needed to live up to the US military code of conduct when in uncertain or hostile environments.
