Dr. Patrick Treacy was invited to New York to see Jay-Z, one of the most successful artists in the hip-hop industry, receive a global leadership award in recognition of his documentary Water for Life with MTV, and for his collaboration with the United Nations to attract support for safe, accessible drinking water in Africa. Jay-Z took on the fourth Millenium Development Goal by creating play pumps, merry-go-round structures that use childrens pedal power to pump water from wells into underground tanks, reducing child mortality.
