SHMOO's NEW SINGLE, WAVES, Out 26th July 2010 With praise from BBC Manchester and the Manchester Evening News for their analogue electronics and a wealth of experience from supporting the likes of Roni Size, Roisin Murphy, Delphic, Ladyhawke and more, Manchesters Shmoo are already well known in their home town. With their first single release of 2010, Waves, the brothers at the heart of Shmoo are setting their sights further afield. As with all previous releases, the single comes with a short film made by David and Neil Newport in collaboration with director Ash Tidball. This time around, not content with simply making a film, the brothers built the robot star of the promo and drew on a love of the legendary Ray Harryhausen and his stop frame animation technique best seen in the original Clash Of The Titans to create the She Machine, named after the bands debut single in 2009. Neil and David are immersed in Shmoo. The attic of their South Manchester flat has become Shmoo HQ, crammed with the analogue electronic gear that propels the sound of the band. Eschewing digital equivalents for their predecessors, the pair, augmented by a drummer for live shows (and occasionally videos), weave a blend of soaring arpeggiators and ambient noises into melodic pop as indebted to Air and MGMT as the greats of the early 80s synth heyday. In a live setting the club influenced beats shine through and mark Shmoo as expert proponents of both melody and rhythm, creating tracks that are at <b>...</b>

Still reeling from playing a sell out show at this year's Manchester International Festival, which garnered rave reviews from BBC Introducing, Manchester stalwart DJ Dave Haslam, and Xfm's Jon Kennedy, Shmoo have won a support slot with Warp Record's Max Tundra and a number of headline shows at the forthcoming InTheCity event and Oxjam gigs.

This interesting cartoon character from the late seventies/early eighties. A white amorpheus blob that can change into anything else of roughly the same size ( Abit like that fellow from 'Deep Space Nine'.) and at other times stretching out to something bigger. Some people consider this show to be ripp-off of Scooby Doo.

Underrated Indie Games Part 11: Ramuh-Shmoo [Sophie Houlden]
Another former Ludum Dare contest entry, another platform puzzler. The aim of the game is to grab coloured cords of varying lengths and link them between electrical outlets, so that the door to each new level can be opened. This allows for some tricky puzzles. This is a clip from a multimedia solo performance called Shmoo. It mixes comedy and pathos using videos and character monologues reflecting performance artist David Deblinger's work in New York with public school students in New York in the nineties. It explores various issues children and adults must face(eggun violence) and how creativity can ease and perhaps even utilize the pain in a constructive way.
