WARNING: Extreme Spoilers The players confrontation with Andrew Ryan, the founder of Rapture, about 2/3 into the game as well as the segment leading up to it. Do not watch if you haven't played Bioshock yet and don't want the plot ruined for you! What is the gravitational acceleration in Minecraft? Let us find out! ------------------------- About the initial height: TLDR: It's negligible I only noticed the initial height after I recorded the video, but I conducted additional experiments on the significance of this. The initial height only affects the the maximum height, which causes the maximum height to be 42 instead of 43. Both the time and the horizontal distance are the same. If the initial height is taken into account, the gravitational acceleration would be 17ms^-2. All the values used and measured were rounded to two significant figures, which mean that the last digit falls within the expected variation in error with significant figures. The error from the height is negligible compared to the error in measurement. This is a just parody of science videos. Étude Op. 10 No. 3, in E major, is a solo piano work composed by Frédéric Chopin. This is a slow cantabile study, in which the right hand must maintain a singing tone in the melody whilst contributing to the accompaniment. Significance This étude differs from most of Chopin's in its tempo. It marks a significant departure from the technical virtuosity required in études before Chopin's time. It concentrates on melodious phrasing and legato ambience of performance more than technical skill. It has been classified as a Tone Poem for piano by some critics, and is highly regarded as a quality manifestation of Chopin's love for Romantic Opera and Poland, where he was born. During a lesson with his pupil Adolf Gutmann, the latter began weeping and cried, "Oh, my homeland!".[edit] Structure This étude is very straightforward, with one theme, a variation, and a final reiteration of the theme. The first theme consists of the right hand's playing the slow melody along with Alberti bass figures. The perfect example of what I was saying in my last video appeared soon after it was uploaded. The Internet was abuzz with a quote from Professor Phil Jones that there has been no global warming since 1995. But is that what he actually said? Once again, we need to go to the source -- Jones's own words -- rather than Internet gossip based on an interpretation of what he said. If we check the primary source, it's a very different story. In fact, Jones and his team did detect warming since 1995. In this video I go to the source, and find out why the tabloid press got things so wrong. I have to correct part of the video where I gave an example of what an 80% statistical significance would mean (for the statisticians out there, this is a p-value of 20%). I said this would mean 80% confidence that global warming was a real, underlying trend, and not the result of background fluctuations. While some statisticians accepted this as a broad explanation for the layperson, others felt it deviated too far from the precise meaning, which is this: =If global warming was not happening, there is only a 20% chance we would see this result.= A 90% statistical significance (if that's what Jones achieved) of the 1995-2009 temperature data would mean If global warming was not happening, there is only a 10% chance we would see this result. SINGAPORE: Singapore's economy grew 4.8 per cent in 2011, significantly slower than the dramatic rebound of 14.7 per cent growth in 2010. It is slightly below the forecast of around five per cent by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who announced the growth figures in his 2012 New Year message on Saturday, described the pace of growth for the year as "steady". He warned that with the external environment uncertain and debt problems in Europe far from solved, 2012 will look like a difficult year for the global economy. He said that Singapore, as a small, open country, will inevitably be affected. Mr Lee said 2011 was a significant year for Singapore, when its people went to the polls twice, and elected a new government and President. He said that having made a significant political transition, the country and its people are now adjusting to new norms in a changed environment. I... don't care, I feel very strongly at all times that we're not insignificant. As you may have gathered from the video. Also if it turns out that there're planets that are teeming with life all over the place and we just haven't found any of them yet... yeah, sure, okay if that happens maybe we're not that significant. But that discovery would be the most significant scientific discovery ever. And just so we're clear, I'm a huge space nerd. There are really awesome and huge things in space (like Cygnus X-1, look it up) but the in-between, the vacuum, is literally nothing. It's empty. It has its own mysteries like dark matter/energy, but for the most part it's just miles of who-gives-a-crap until you hit the next unbelievably enormous sun or crazy weird nebula or million-kilometer-long ice-spike or whatever. When these two hooked up in "Know when to fold" it felt out of the blue, yet I was surprisingly drawn to this pair for reasons I couldn't explain. Later on when I decided to rewatch the show from the beginning (including the back-door pilot in Grey's Anatomy), I noticed little moments prior to this episode that established more than a mere work-relationship between them.
