Skeptical environmentalist Lomborg declares that global warming is a chief concern facing the world, but says we should focus our resources on more immediate concerns like fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS. INFORUM is hosting a pre-release screening of Cool It, the film based on Lomborg's 2007 book, which outlines Lomborg's climate solutions. Are these the same solutions that the Sierra Club's Pope would offer up? Probably not. This pair of environment advocates will tackle the issues in an exclusive discussion after the screening. Cool It (Now Available on DVD & Digital Download)

Climate catastrophe? The end of civilization as we know it? Are the current staggeringly expensive actions now being considered really helping to save the world - or are we just burning money? In this "eye-opening" (LOS ANGELES TIMES) documentary, author Bjorn Lomborg ("The Skeptical Environmentalist") asks us to question the facts and the solutions. Why in the world are we spending so much money on "green" initiatives...for such little gain? Are there better ways to solve the problems? How else could that money be spent? No matter what our opinions are on the environmental movement, COOL IT is an "engrossing" film (THE NEW YORK TIMES) that asks us to rethink our polarized views. After all, nothing less than the planet is at stake.

Bjørn Lomborg cream pied by Mark Lynas

The Skeptical Environmentalist is a controversial book by Danish author Bjørn Lomborg. In oxford an environmentalist cream pied him in protest of his denial of climate change. Danish anti-environmentalist author Bjorn Lomborg today received his just desserts courtesy of a fellow writer enraged at his "dangerous and misleading" statements on crucial green issues. A pie was thrown in his face at Borders Bookshop in Oxford just after 7pm Sept 4 2001 Lomborg's heavily-promoted new book 'The Skeptical Environmentalist' claims variously that consumer waste isn't a problem, that species loss is minimal, and that it is far too expensive to do anything about global warming. Pie-man Mark Lynas said he was unable to ignore Lomborg's comments on climate change. "I wanted to put a Baked Alaska in his smug face," said Lynas, "in solidarity with the native Indian and Eskimo people in Alaska who are reporting rising temperatures, shrinking sea ice and worsening effects on animal and bird life."

On June 27, 2011, at the 102nd Annual Conference of the International District Energy Association in Toronto, Canada, three informed and powerful personalities engaged in a timely and enlightening debate "Climate change, common-sense energy and global economics: Where do we go from here?" Bjorn Lomborg, Tom Casten and Tom Rand discussed their respective views on the convergence of climate change, energy efficiency and economic policies. The debaters are also authors. Our keynote luncheon speaker, Dr. Bjorn Lomborg, director of Copenhagen Consensus Center is author of "The Skeptical Environmentalist" and "Cool It", a documentary recently released on DVD. Tom Casten, founder of Trigen Energy Corp and chairman of Recycled Energy Development, widely recognized for his evangelical passion for profitably re-using waste heat, is author of "Turning Off the Heat." Dr. Tom Rand, Toronto-based entrepreneur, is helping to spawn new clean energy startups and is author of "Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit: 10 Clean Technologies to Save Our World." These gentlemen share a similar conviction for injecting common sense and sound economic principles into the energy and environmental debate, from slightly divergent perspectives.

Bjorn Lomborg & The Copenhagen Consensus: What's the best way to live with global warming?

What's the best way for humanity to reduce suffering from man-made global warming? No individual has been a stronger voice for rational cost-benefit analysis on this issue than Bjorn Lomborg, the head of Copenhagen Consensus Center, and author of The Skeptical Environmentalist and Cool It! On Thursday, September 3, 2009, Lomborg stopped by Reason's DC HQ to discuss the latest iteration of his ongoing project with Reason magazine science correspondent Ronald Bailey. The Copenhagen Consensus Center's expert panel of five top economists, including three Nobel laureates, has concluded that greater resources should be spent on research into climate engineering and green energy. They also concluded that the least cost-effective way to deal with climate change is carbon taxes. Such carbon taxes are the economic equivalent of cap-and-trade carbon rationing schemes like the Waxman-Markey bill being considered by Congress and which are being negotiated by the UN The expert panel consisted of Nobel laureate economists Thomas Schelling, Vernon Smith, and Finn Kydland. They were joined by University of Chicago economist Nancy Stokey and Columbia University economist Jagdish Bhagwati. The panel considered and ranked 21 ground-breaking research proposals by top climate economists on the basis their benefits and costs in dealing with global warming. Approximatley four minutes. Earth Focus: Tackling Climate Change

More at www.linktv.org (Earth Focus: Episode 25) In this episode of Earth Focus, we look at various initiatives that are trying to take action to address climate change. Cool It! is a new movie featuring skeptical environmentalist author Bjorn Lomborg, who says people should cut the fear and find realistic solutions that make economic sense. Next, climate activists call for presidential leadership on during the World Work Party on 10/10/10. Then we look at Fate of the World, a new video game produced by UK based Red Redemption. They specialize in social action games that enable you to use real climate models to either save or destroy the world. Video game creator Gobion Rowlands explains why this game will have an impact. Another approach is taking the climate message to high schools as The Alliance for Climate Education makes climate science hip for teens, using animation, music, and video. Then author Chuck McCutcheon discusses his new book What are Global Warming and Climate Change?, explaining climate change for younger readers. In the next segment, Easy Like Water filmmaker Glenn Baker shows how children in Bangladesh are going to school on boats, due to rising sea levels and floods. Finally we look to rural Nicaragua, where solar energy is helping improve children's health and save lives. 12/11/2010

Why Many Are Skeptical About Global Warming

Many people are skeptical about the major claims of Global Warming/Climate Change science. Journalists tend to assume that such skepticism is based on ignorance of the relevant data. However, I believe the reasons that most people are skeptical have more to do with the logical structure/assumptions of global warming and far less to do with the data. People with minimal education or even just common sense know enough about what science is supposed to do and how it is supposed to do it to question whether climate change science is a legitimate science. This video argues that "Global Warners" and their theory predict too much and that too many possible outcomes are used as evidence of the truth of the theory. Climate Alarmist Calls For Burning Down Skeptics' Homes

Writing for Forbes Magazine, climate change alarmist Steve Zwick calls for skeptics of man-made global warming to be tracked, hunted down and have their homes burned to the ground, yet another shocking illustration of how eco-fascism is rife within the environmentalist lobby. Comparing climate change skeptics to residents in Tennessee who refused to pay a $75 fee, resulting in firemen sitting back and watching their houses burn down, Zwick rants that anyone who actively questions global warming propaganda should face the same treatment. "We know who the active denialists are -- not the people who buy the lies, mind you, but the people who create the lies. Let's start keeping track of them now, and when the famines come, let's make them pay. Let's let their houses burn. Let's swap their safe land for submerged islands. Let's force them to bear the cost of rising food prices," writes Zwick, adding, "They broke the climate. Why should the rest of us have to pay for it?" www.infowars.com
