Snell Knot

This is a slide show movie showing how to tie a hook onto a leader using a snell knot. The snell I am using requires that both ends of the line used are free so that each end will be able to pass through the eye. With a little practice it is a very fast and easy way to snell a hook. I set up the video so it could be paused either on the instructions or the photos for a closer look.

Snell's law of Refraction

An experimental demonstration of Snell's law of Refraction. Light is shone through a glass block at various angles. A calibrated paper template allows the angles of incidence and refraction to be determined. (The angle of incidence is also spoken out during the experiment).

Snell Helmet Testing with LabVIEW and CompactDAQ

viroadshow.blogspot.com The Snell Memorial Foundation works to make sure the helmets we use in transportation and sports are made according to the specs required to protect our heads when accidents happen. As a memorial to Pete, a group of scientists, physicians, racing colleagues and friends teamed together in a dedicated effort to promote research, education, testing and development of standards geared to improve the effectiveness of automotive racing helmets. Through their work, the Snell Memorial Foundation was established in 1957. Reading their list of tests will make me think twice before my next ride on a two-wheeler! Impact Test Positional Stability (Roll-Off) Test Dynamic Retention Test Chin Bar Test Shell Penetration Test Faceshield Penetration Test Flame Resistance Test This video was made for NI Week 2006 as an example CompactDAQ application. I wanted to post it because it (your helmet working when you need it) is one of those things that's easy to take for granted. Many thanks to Snell and the good work they do.

1954-82 Bannister,Elliott,Snell,Keino,Bayi,Moorcroft,Cram-Mile/1500m-Empire and Commonwealth Games

The Blue Riband event of athletics in the Empire/Commonwealth Games had an amazing list of champions covered by these three decades....Bannister,Elliott,Snell,Keino (twice),Bayi,Moorcroft,Cram...quite a lineup! Then consider some of the names in the minor placings...Walker,Foster,Quax,Landy,Simpson,Boit,Jipcho....and spare a thought for the great Kiwi runner Rod Dixon, who in 1974 ran the fifth fastest 1500 metres of all time and came fourth on the day. That's tough! Sadly, with the advent of professionalism and a biannual World Championships, the shine on the gold medal has been diminished in recent times, which is a pity.If you enjoy watching this half as much as I did putting it together then you'll be one happy athletics fan!

Peter Snell. World Record.800m.-880yds.1962,New Zealand

Just a week after lowering Elliott's world record for the mile, Snell destroyed Tom Courtney's 880 Yards WR, by 1.7 seconds, removing Moen's 800 Metres WR along the way ,by 1.4 seconds. The new times were 1.45.1 for the 880 yds.,and 1.44.3 for the 800m.Snell regarded this as his finest performance.Run in Christchurch,New Zealand, this is typical of newsreels of the time...a little too much interviewing and not enough race! Nevertheless,it is stil the best quality footage I have seen of his race. Two points of wonder...it is stll, after nearly FIFTY years, the NZ national record for the 800 Metres!!Also, before anyone starts pointlessly comparing it to other records from later eras, remember,it was run on a grass track!! Now that's impressive!

Snell Vaughan the "Steamsel"

Inspired by the Bulleid Leader class, this is my newly-created Thomas & Friends character: Snell Vaughan the "Steamsel" (a Steamie built within a Diesel's body). Carrying the middle names of his designer, Oliver Vaughan Snell Bulleid, Snell Vaughan is a yellow articulated tank engine with black stripes, who is a cousin of Neville and Dennis. Upon arrival on Sodor, Snell Vaughan was given a tour of Sodor by Diesel 10 - until he showed the devious diesel his true colours. NOTE: Originally, I was going to call this character Vaughan Snell, but I decided that Snell Vaughan flowered better than Vaughan Snell!

Rob Snell talks about Good Products to Sell in Your Online Store and Bad Ones

In this video interview, e-commerce expert Rob Snell explains how to judge whether a particular product is good - or bad - to try to sell online. First, if you're losing money when you ship the product, says Snell, it's a bad product for you. Your profit calculations need to account for time spent on shipping and customer service. Snell explains that in college he and his brother sold comic books at 75 cents apiece. His dad explained to him, "Son, it you have to sell a lot of comics at 75 cents to make a mortgage payment." Snell began to realize that it takes the same amount of effort to ship a $20 box as it does for a $2000 box. But it's not just the amount of the total sale, but the amount of profit on the sale. Snell recommends avoiding .... Products where entrenched retailers have a built-in advantage, such as volume pricing Products that damage easily when shipping, causing returns Products that are easily available, sold on the street corner, pawn shop, or Walmart Ideally, you want something that people can't easily get in local stores. Avoid being a generalist. It's best to specialize in a niche where you have lots of product knowledge, as well as a passion for the products. From a search engine optimization (SEO) standpoint, ranking for a very narrow niche isn't that hard. Use the Google Keyword Tool to see how many people search for that product each month to ensure that there will be sufficient demand for the product and volume of sales. Look at your competitors ...
