Otis recorded this song shortly before his tragic death. Steve Cropper finished production on the song after Otis' plane went down. Released posthumously, it was Otis' biggest hit ever. Enjoy!

Philadelphia native Russell Taylor grew up listening to that city's soul music legends along with such other classic soul artists as Stevie Wonder and Chaka Kahn. The talented singer/songwriter first gathered an audience in Europe in 2000 as featured vocalist on the songs "Fool For Love" and "Last Dance," produced by the Basement Boys. Taylor became a regular on the East Coast soul music circuit, playing smaller gigs as a headliner as well as warming up established acts. He recorded a number of songs during the period 2003 - 2005, and issued limited releases Soulstar and Soulstar 2 before issuing his formal debut album in 2006, Somewhere In Between. I really hope someone at Warner sees this, and by the time the Blu-ray reissue is released, the audio problems that were encountered on the DVD release have been resolved! Pandit Rabindra Goswami (sitar) and Ramu Pandit (tabla) perform at Bay Path College (Springfield, MA) as part of their Banaras Soul Music 2011 Tour. Both musicians have been playing professionally for more than 40 years, have toured extensively in India and the United States, and are recognized as some of the most senior artists in the musically rich city of Banaras, India. After introductions by James Wilson (Bay Path College) and Andy Rotman (Smith College), the musicians perform exquisite versions of Raga Rishavpriya and then Raga Mishra Piloo. The first raga consists of an alap, with two compositions in a 16 beat cycle, one slow and one fast, and then a fast jhala. The second raga is rendered in a 6 beat cycle, incorporating elements of different ragas (ragamala).

The Intruders were an American soul music group most popular in the 1960s and 1970s. As one of the first groups to have hit songs under the direction of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, they had a major influence on the development of Philadelphia soul. Formed around 1960, the group originally consisted of Sam "Little Sonny" Brown, Eugene "Bird" Daughtry, Phillip "Phil" Terry and Robert "Big Sonny" Edwards. In 1969, Sam Brown was replaced as lead singer by Bobby Starr, only to rejoin the group in 1973. In 1965, when songwriters and record producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff first contemplated leaving the Cameo-Parkway record label to risk launching their own label, the vocalists on which they pinned all their hopes and venture capital were The Intruders. Like many other subsequent acts the duo produced, which include the popular Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and The O'Jays, The Intruders had already developed a vocal sound that was both theirs and uniquely Philadelphian. Brown, Daughtry, Terry and Edwards had been recording and performing one-off singles together since 1961, blending Philly's street corner doo-wop tradition with black gospel fervor. The result was neither as pop-infected as Motown, nor as funky and blues-inflected as Stax. The sound which The Intruders refined for the Excel, Gamble and Philadelphia International imprints reflected a different attitude than either Stax or Motown.
