"Will it shoot?" The Slingshot Channel tests if it possible to use an iPhone as slingshot ammo, and also what happens when a big steel ball, shot from a powerful slingshot, hits an iphone full on the touchpad. A specifically designed slingshot crossbow is employed to launch what many regard as the best cell phone in the world. You can see iPhones beeing shot at ballistic gelatin, "Mythbusters style", and also a "long range" shot, demonstrating the accuracy. No iPhone survived the tests, in the end, a "3G" model is fired flat against a house wall. This opened up the device in record time. A little bonus in the end takes care of several requests for specific gelatin tests...
Jörg Sprave did a (complimentary) design for the well known slingshot manufacturing company "Milbro" (AKA hogancastings) from out of England. www.milbroproshotuk.com The "Hand Howitzer" is shown in this video, in brass, bronze and in black anodized aluminum. Natural forks have their own appeal. You never know what is underneath the bark, and the strength of the wood is amazing. This video shows how Jörg Sprave turns a Blackthorn fork into a nice slingshot, just with knife, rasp and file. In order to make it less boring, the time intensive parts of the video are massively accelerated, so even though no part has been left out, the entire procedure takes abozut 9 minutes from raw fork to the well finished glossy slingshot, ready with home made bands. The Slingshot Channel has presented many slingshot crossbows already, but all have been rather long and narrow. This one is different, as it is following the medieval crossbow design by a great deal. The main differences is that rubber bands are used instead of a steel spring, and heavy lead balls are used as ammo rather than bolts. It is amazing how effective rubber is, with just 48 lbs of draw force , 38 foot pounds of energy are achieved. The 576 gr (36 gramm) lead ball (.75") flies at 177 feet per second. After a short time of ownership and use - this is a brief demonstration of the Jorg Sprave Panther Slingshot. It is a really great slingshot overall but I feel that it is not one for beginners, which I believe Jorg stated that in his personal demonstration of this slingshot. But I took plenty of shots - had a few misses but I still did some damage :)

This time, the pulley based draw length extension employed by the Bullpup Sling-X-Bow has been brought over to a conventional slingshot. 32 cm (13") of additional acceleration make this camo painted huge frame a true performer. Both weapons are shot through the chrony, and the crossbow won by only a few percent. The original design is from Mr. Robert Blair, it is called the "ComBow". The Slingshot Channel converted Mr. Blair's invention for the much faster flatbands, and also for the far more powerful "butterfly" shooting style. The result is a stronger slingshot, but it is also pretty bulky. The video shows to more frames carved from dogwood, and a hand protection "glove". The slingshots are all used against a 75% empty 5 liter beer barrel. The beer was no longer drinkable, but good enough for the slomo cam to take some nice shots. A "The Slingshot Channel" production!
This time, The Slingshot Channel brings to you a truly revolutionary new weapon. A repeating slingshot crossbow that fires 20mm steel balls! The weapon can be loaded with 20 "rounds" within just a few seconds. Then, a simple racking action feeds a round into the chamber and cocks the bands. The weapon is used here to smash eight glass bottles, which is done in one uncut passage with just six shots. A "The Slingshot Channel" production!
"Invisible" here means: Weapons that can't be detected with a metal detector, used in airports and government buildings. How dangerous are non metal weapons, really? This video wants to find out. Airport security is still much more tight than before 9-11. But is it tight enough? Mohammed Atta and his fellow terrorists used box cutters to hijack the planes. Those can't be brought aboard airplanes anymore, the detectors are (hopefully) too sensitive. But there are still many weapons that a) are small enough to fit in a pocket without too much bulging b) won't be seen by a metal detector Jörg Sprave tests four non metal knifes (flint, wood, plastic, and ceramics) against a block of ballistic gelatin, "Mythbusters" style. Then, a carbon fibre slingshot is used to fire pebbles into the gelatin. The end result is clear: More security is needed. All of the tested weapons can seriously harm, even kill, a human beeing. Therefore suitable body scanners and mandatory frisking is a must. As a bonus, steel and lead balls are also shot at the gelatin, and a samurai sword finishes it off. On December 30th, 2010, The Slingshot Channel presented a functional "desktop size" slingshot cannon. It fires 8 mm steel balls. Finally, the model was turned into reality! 10 times bigger than the model, it fires 80 mm steel balls now... with impressive force. The huge amount of rubber (6 full Thera Band Gold stripes per side, 72 times stronger than "hunterbands" for conventional slingshots) propels a steel boule/petanque ball fast enough so it flies 200 meters (220 yards). See how it smashes beer barrels and even a car... lots of slow motion is included. The winch allows insane draw weights. Here, more than 200 kg was employed. In combination with the "barrel length" of 3 meters (10 ft), it achieves firearm like energy levels and the momentum of a giant sledge hammer.
