Tricity Vogue performs her original song Squint-Eye Squid on the last night of Tricity Vogue's Ukulele Cabaret, on Sunday 28 August 2011, at Laughing Horse @ The Three Sisters during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Tricity is joined on stage by her stage manager Rhian Kennedy, wearing blue cat ears and tail from their other show, The Blue Lady Sings Back, in which Rhian played the part of the Blue Lady's guard. Rhian commissioned Tricity to write a song about Squid the cat, who belongs to Tricity's friend and Edinburgh landlord Ed, after Squid scratched Rhian. Tricity agreed on condition that Rhian appeared on stage with her dressed as a cat for the duration of the number.

'Avan' is played by Vishal who portrays the role of Walter Vanangamudy, while 'Ivan' is Arya who portrays the role of Kumbudra Saami. Having tonsured their heads for the roles (and following the director's request to keep their startling appearance secret from the public), the two stars are playing a pair of petty thieves. Vishal is a squint-eyed hero, using con-tricks to fund local dramas, while Arya portrays his stepbrother. The director says, "Avan Ivan is a film that will make you roar with laughter for the most part. Occasionally, you may cry. But finally you will be shocked." With music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film's highlights include a 10-minute scene where Vishal and Arya appear together with Suriya, who makes a memorable cameo appearance!
