1982 Annapolis, "The Recruiter" (Roger Staubach Picks Navy)

retired admiral "John Paul Smith" (Hope) visits QB prospect at home. He brings along his niece, Felice, as added bait. Bernadette Peters is brilliant in the role and gets such a big laugh after one line, Hope comments. This is a particularly funny sketch taped at Annapolis in 1982.You can read all about what happened behind-the-scenes of these classic Bob Hope video clips by reading Bob Mills' book "THE LAUGH MAKERS: A Behind-the-Scenes Tribute to Bob Hope's Incredible Gag Writers." Says "laugh-In's" Gary Owens: "The Laugh Makers is the book we've all been waiting for. It's jam-packed with stories, anecdotes and un-retouched photos from a fondly remembered past, recalling often hilarious, sometimes heartwarming, and always touching tales of legendary stars, near-legendary stars and one or two complete failures — which happens in show business. You can look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls." Roger Staubach looks forward to Super Bowl XLV in North Texas.

When you remember the Cowboys of the 1970s, perhaps the first name that comes to mind is quarterback Roger Staubach. Staubach led the Cowboys to four Super Bowls, winning Super Bowls VI and XII. After retiring from the NFL, he went on to achieve great success in real estate and was part of the effort to bring Super Bowl XLV to North Texas. Roger joins Bill Coates and talks about North Texas' first Super Bowl, coming in 2011 and compares today's Super Bowl teams to those of the 1970s.

Staubach and Griese campaign for kickers

Roger Staubach, Bob Griese, Gary Zimmerman and Paul Krause discuss whether or not kickers should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The "ORIGINAL" Hail Mary

This is the original Hail Mary which changed the game of football and led to the "PREVENT" defensive scheme. The Hall of Fame requires that a player's participation was a "game changer" in the sport. Besides his other contributions to this legendary franchise, Drew Pearson satisified that qualification with this play in ways that no other player has ever been remembered and he should be inducted with other receivers from that era into the Hall of Fame. It isn't fair to hold a bias against him just because he was a Dallas Cowboy. He was a damn good receiver and a game changer.
