On Sunday, June 26, 2011, Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins needed only six minutes and 11.54 seconds to finish the famed Mt. Washington Hillclimb — nearly 30 seconds faster than Frank Sprongl's previous record from 1998. Higgins also beat the unofficial record of 6:20.47 set by Travis Pastrana last year. Higgins did it sans co-driver in his Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STi rally car equipped with BFGoodrich RC01 Rally tires.
One of the oldest rally races on the schedule, Susquehannock Trail (commonly known as STPR) began in 1977. It is not only the oldest, but it is also the fastest rally in North America. With roads consisting of clay and gravel, the course is slippery, fast and extremely dangerous. Drivers travel at speeds reaching 100 MPH through densely wooded roads. The speeds combined with the dangerous course ensure that this rally is not for the feint at heart.

Despite his hardest efforts, Travis came up just shy of the podium and landed in fourth place. Teammate Dave Mirra was right behind Travis and secured fifth. Dave drove well throughout the heat races and advanced directly to the A Main final starting grid. With a sluggish start, Dave was behind the pack in the beginning; but, he managed to work his way up the field by the time the checkered flag dropped.

Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) returns to the 2011 Rally America National Championship at the season opener Sno*Drift Rally in northern Michigan. The team conducted a successful pre-event test earlier in Michigan ahead of the event with team drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra. Higgins and Mirra each pilot the team's 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally cars prepared by Vermont SportsCar. The Sno*Drift Rally features nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan with nearly one third of the miles run at night. Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this rally extremely challenging made even more treacherous as Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires here placing a premium on road traction. Subaru Rally Team USA drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the 2011 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood piloting 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally cars. Higgins, in his gravel rally debut for SRT USA, pushed hard for the victory but ultimately came up just 17.7 seconds short of the top podium step. The 100 Acre Wood Rally was round two of the six-round 2011 Rally America National Championship series. Named after the storybook home of Winnie the Pooh, the 100 Acre Wood Rally is set in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. Based in and around the town of Salem, the 100 Acre Wood Rally features very high-speeds on smooth and flowing gravel roads that are a favorite of many rally drivers.

The Lake Superior Rally takes place during peak foliage season in Northern Michigan, which means that this rally is always one of the most unforgettable and picturesque. Weather conditions can vary greatly in late October. There can be anything from warm temperatures with bright blue skies to heavy rain or snow. Storm systems build quickly on water the size of Lake Superior, which means that the weather can change very rapidly. This means that drivers need to be ready for any type of weather at any time of the day. Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana won man of the stages of the Lake Superior Performance Rally, taking the win -- and his second Rally America driver's title. "It was pretty tight," said an enthusiastic Pastrana at the finish line. "We won. We didn't crash, and we won the championship too... I'm pretty pumped." With four overall wins in 2007, the motocross rider turned rally star was the driver to beat this season as he fought for the title into the last seconds of the final round. "That last stage might have been one of the best I've ever driven," he said. Coming into this ninth rally in the series, it would be winner take all. Pastrana and his Subaru Rally Team USA teammate Ken Block were tied for points in the overall championship standings, behind Rockstar Energy driver Andrew Pinker. A victory by any of these drivers would secure them the championship.
Now in its fourth year as a national level rally, Rally Colorado is shaping up to become one of America's best and biggest rallies. The rally is based in the beautiful year-round resort community of Steamboat Springs, just a short drive west into the mountains from Denver. The landscape includes fast sections of road and open areas for great spectating. The high altitude, coupled with fast straights put the high horsepower Open class cars at a distinct advantage. Subaru Rally Team USA driver Ken Block earned a critical win at Rally Colorado, setting the stage for a three-way shootout for the Rally America title. It was the second victory of the year for Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino. They battled back from an early deficit to the RockStar Energy Drink Rally Team of Tanner Foust and Chrissie Beavis, who had found themselves down on power and suffered a flat tire on their 2007 Subaru WRX STi. In third place were Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom, who were fortunate to recover from an exciting off-road excursion on Day 1 with little more than a flat tire. Pastrana called it "the most fun I've ever had in a car in my whole life" when his 2006 Subaru WRX STi toppled over a cliff and landed 60 yards off the road in a field. The pair regained the course and lost little time to their opponents. It was at this rally in 2005 that Pastrana famously slid wide on a corner and rolled his top-spec Subaru seven and three-quarter times.

The third race on Rally America's schedule, Oregon Trail takes place in the woods outside the city of Portland. With fast stretches combined with twisting wooded runs through the Tillamook State Forest this rally is always packed with excitement. The lush, wet woods provide trees and ditches galore that are constant worries for the drivers and their co-drivers. Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom were forced to retire from the rally early with an engine problem. This was an entirely new experience for Pastrana, who in his fourth season of rallying with a Subaru had never retired from an event due to a mechanical issue. Subaru Rally Team USA driver Ken Block posted a 2nd overall finish and moved into the lead of the 2007 Rally America National Championship standings. Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom won the Bronze medal in the X Games 13 Rally Car Super Special event. Pastrana, driving his BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI missed out on a shot at the Gold while challenging Hollywood stunt driver and Rally America competitor Tanner Foust. Pastrana crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified for crossing over into Tanner's lane. The crowd and the SRT USA team members erupted in celebration at Pastrana's victory before hearing minutes later that race officials would disqualify Pastrana for the crossing into Foust's lane. "I was really happy with how we drove, and our Subaru and BFGoodrich Tires were amazing," he said in the paddock, bent and bruised rally cars everywhere. "Look at these cars. It was demolition derby out there. I drove my best and still crossed the line first. It was the wrong line, though! But they made the right call. It made for a good show I bet, but after winning the Gold last year, taking home Bronze this time around is hard to swallow."

Subaru Rally Team USA driver Dave Mirra debuted his all-new 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rallycross car and finished 4th in the A-Main Final at the Inaugural round of the 2011 Global Rallycross Chamionship at Irwindale Speedway in Los Angeles, CA. The Global Rallycross Championship consists of 3 rounds, each scheduled at different venues across the country, leading up to X Games 17 which will be held within the LA Live complex and Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, to be held on July 30-31, 2011.
