My new 2011 STi Sedan I traded my 2010 MazdaSpeed3 in for. I love it and look forward to modding it. I just recently flashed it to Stage 1 with the Cobb AccessPort I got from Boston Motorsports. They give really good discounts. 877.600.0267 and ask for Daniel. As compared to the MazdaSpeed3, the acceleration was not impressive stock from a roll. My Speed3 felt faster. From a stop it was totally different and felt MUCH faster obviously. The Stage 1 however made a HUGE improvement and I highly recommend it. The handling feels better on the STi along with the shifter. The stock stereo is horrific though and I hate having to use a key again. I'm finally working on some acceleration videos since I just got to 1000 miles. When Cobb released the Stage1+AEM map I will be adding CAI. Eventually I will do a downpipe and stage 2. And in Fast & Furious, the most obvious product placement is Subaru's WRX STI. The Subie got its role in F&F when the picture car coordinator went looking for a new, high-performance, rally-type car for FBI agent Brian O'Connor (super-dreamy Paul Walker) to drive near the film's climax. Basically it was a choice between the Mitsubishi Evo X and the WRX STI, and Subaru was the first one to say it would supply cars. So Subaru it was. Subaru gave a total of seven brand-new WRX STI models to the production in exchange for prominent placement in the film. But just because they were zero-mile cars doesn't mean that they were treated with any respect by the picture car department. After all, what matters in movie-making is getting the movie made, not making sure any Subaru survives unscratched. So all the Subies had their interiors stripped, all were fitted with straightforward tuner-style modifications from Perrin, Cobb Tuning and Veilside, and then they were sent out to work on the set. Of the seven, one was cut up into an engine-less filming buck and five were destroyed during filming. The remaining car is in a warehouse awaiting another shot at fame.

Subaru of America, Inc. has released a new YouTube video of the 2011 Subaru WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT Mountain Course. The 5 minute 25 second video highlights in graphic detail the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins' lap that averaged 115.356 MPH. After the run, Higgins talks through the "moment" at Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX STI at more than 150 MPH. Driving a US specification 2011 Subaru WRX STI, Higgins achieved speeds of 162 MPH and a lapped time of 19 minutes 37 seconds over the 37-mile track, navigating more than 200 corners. "This is one of the most daunting tracks I have ever driven, and the most terrifying," said Higgins, a Manx native. "We were only able to get two practice runs and on our second practice I had the biggest "moment" of my career. We had a passenger on the run and so coming into Bray Hill at more than 150 MPH, the extra weight compressed the suspension more than on previous runs and shifted the Subaru to the left and then right as I corrected--it was a real tank slapper. The whole thing went by so quickly that we never slowed below 110 MPH, and then we were back on the power. It was amazing and the helicopter shots really show just how hairy it really was." The newest of the WRX STIs. While we've seen the all-new Subaru Impreza earlier this year, we have yet to hear much about the ultimate high-performance version of the car, the WRX STI. Subaru has been very secretive about the car, not allowing any information to get out to the media, but our colleagues in Japan were able to uncover some important details. The STI's launch is still about a year away—we hear that it's scheduled to reach dealer showrooms in the summer of 2012. The car will first appear as a 5-door hatchback, with perhaps a sedan version to follow. It seems that Subaru has plans to compete in various motorsports events with the WRX STI, so expect to see the hatchback at rally events, with the sedan competing in touring-car races. We're still unsure how the US-spec WRX STI will differ from the home-market version, but we do know that both will produce more than 300 bhp. The Japanese model will come powered by a new version of the FB flat-4 with a turbocharger. Our sources say that the 2.0-liter engine will produce 330 bhp and 324 lb.-ft. of torque, which is 8 bhp and 12 lb.-ft. more than the current domestic model.
