T-Mobile www.technobuffalo.com The war between cellular carriers in the United States has become all about 4G speeds, but who truly is the winner between AT&T and T-Mobile? It seems you can't go anywhere on TV or online any more without seeing some sort of advertisement for a cellular carrier's 4G network. These networks promise you crazy speeds that would put most home Internet connection speeds to shame, but what is the reality? And which is truly faster? Our own Jon Rettinger decided to pit AT&T and T-Mobile against one another to see which network was truly faster. For AT&T he used an HTC Inspire and for T-Mobile he went with the Motorola Galaxy S 4G. He conducted five tests over the course of two and a half hours on Feb. 18th starting at 7 AM, and these are the results he got: (all speeds in Mbps) AT&T T-Mobile Down Up Down Up Test #1 1.3 .4 2.8 1.4 Test #2 1.2 .3 2.7 1.5 Test #3 3.2 .4 2.8 1.8 Test #4 1.3 .7 2.4 1.5 Test #5 1.4 .6 2.8 1.6 The speeds shown in the video above were from tests conducted at 4:30 PM on Feb. 20th. The debate around the AT&T/T-Mobile merger seems to be growing daily. Despite the opposition and the lawsuits to block the acquisition from both the US Department of Justice and Sprint, supporters continue to speak out about the benefits the merger would provide. Former Congressman Rick Boucher, who is also the Honorary Chairman of the Internet Innovation Alliance (IIA), is among this group of supporters because he believes the deal would be advantageous for innovation, the economy, and job creation. He spoke with WebProNews and said that the merger would not only achieve broadband deployment, but that it would also help fulfill the President's goal of having 98 percent of the country have access to broadband. T-Mobile G2x Hands-On by Aaron It's the Optimus 2X, but with T-Mobile branding! Aaron takes a first look at the T-Mobile G2x, the carrier's first dual-core smartphone and one of the first to support T-Mobile's new 42Mbps HSPA+ technology. Inside, it offers a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 4-inch display, 8-megapixel rear camera, a camera on the front for video calling, and Android 2.2. It comes preloaded with quite a few games and the usual T-Mobile applications like My Device, Help, and Wi-Fi Calling. T-Mobile Sidekick 4G Hands-On by Aaron The Sidekick is back! Aaron takes a first look at the T-Mobile (Samsung) Sidekick 4G, the first to run Android. It's packed with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 3.5-inch display, 3-megapixel camera (NOT 5-megapixel like he says in the video), a front-facing camera for Facebook lovers, and a custom build of Android 2.2 that provides former Sidekick users with a similar experience.
